To Head its Multimedia Unit, UNHCR is looking for candidates with a unique combination of expert technological awareness for rich visual content production. The individual should possess leadership and coordination abilities, management and creative innovation skills, and proven media production experience particularly in a field setting. He/She must be able to exhibit a robust portfolio of high-quality, high-impact multimedia content (videos, audio, photos) for global audiences. The Senior Multimedia Offer will bring forward a strong understanding of the video and news landscape in order to develop and continuously update strategies for increasing UNHCR’s profile through compelling audio-visual broadcast and social media. The position requires frequent travel often to challenging environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Supervise a diverse television, studio, and production crew.

§ Responsible for ensuring smooth operation of UNHCR video studios in Geneva and Copenhagen, including the ability to broadcast live television interviews.

§ Operate the Orange Logic digital asset management system and related archival activities.

§ Maintain an extensive network with relevant mass media to direct their attention to those activities and achievements of UNHCR which are of interest to the public or concerned group.

§ Research, write, edit and distribute materials on UNHCR's work, or on specific refugee issues.

§ Develop and maintain established network of contacts at leading news, media organizations, and international video suppliers relevant to UNHCR operations.

§ Evaluate the relative effectiveness of approaches chosen to reach the public and advise the Chief of Section and other senior officials of the needs for further coverage of specific programmes or topics.

QUALIFICATIONS

§ Advanced University Degree in broadcasting, journalism, communications or relevant discipline with specific training in video and television production.

§ Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in broadcast.

§ Will have demonstrated a wide-ranging knowledge of the profession of journalism particularly, but not exclusively, with foreign correspondents and international media, with a focus on television, broadcasting and digital channels. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, with strong research, writing, and editing skills. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
