PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Internship Programme, also known as the Grow Green Programme, provides talented students and recent graduates with an opportunity to gain practical experience in an international development organization and to contribute to GGGI's work across green growth, climate action, sustainable development and related areas.

The GGGI UAE Country Programme is entering an intensive period of high-level government engagements, international events, strategic partnerships and UAE delegation activities in the Republic of Korea during September and October 2026. These activities include the UAE's participation in GGGI Week 2026, UAE–GGGI co-hosted events, meetings with the Korean government and institutional stakeholders, UAE government and partner delegations, and potential strategic partnership and sponsorship engagements.

To strengthen the UAE Country Programme's Korea-based coordination and operational capacity during this period, the UAE Country Office seeks to engage two Korean interns based at GGGI Headquarters in Seoul.

The interns will provide dedicated support to the UAE Country Office and relevant HQ teams in the preparation, coordination and follow-up of Korea-based engagements. Their role will cover event preparation, stakeholder coordination, research, meeting arrangements, preparation of briefing and supporting materials, documentation, tracking and logistical coordination.

The interns will work closely with the UAE Country Representative and designated UAE Country Office and HQ colleagues. The assignment will provide the interns with practical exposure to international development cooperation, climate and green growth programming, government engagement, international event coordination and partnership development in a multicultural working environment.

PROGRAMM AND ASSIGNMENT CONTEXT

Assignment: Korea-based coordination and operational support to the GGGI UAE Country Programme

The assignment will support the UAE Country Programme's engagement with UAE government partners, Korean government entities, GGGI HQ teams, international organizations, companies, universities, research institutions and other relevant stakeholders.

The support is particularly required during the preparation and implementation of GGGI Week 2026 and associated UAE government and partner engagements in Korea.

The assignment is intended to provide additional coordination capacity to the UAE Country Programme while allowing senior UAE and HQ colleagues to focus on substantive discussions, strategic partnerships and high-level engagement.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The overall objective of the assignment is to strengthen the capacity of the GGGI UAE Country Programme to effectively prepare, coordinate and deliver its Korea-based engagements during September and October 2026.

The interns will support:

  • Preparation and coordination of UAE participation in GGGI Week 2026;
  • UAE–GGGI co-hosted events and related meetings;
  • Engagements involving UAE government and institutional partners visiting Korea;
  • Meetings with Korean government entities, institutions, companies and other stakeholders;
  • Strategic partnership and MOU-related preparations;
  • Stakeholder research and mapping;
  • Preparation of briefing notes, talking points, agendas, presentations and concept notes;
  • Meeting, event and delegation coordination;
  • Documentation, action tracking and follow-up; and
  • Communication and coordination between the UAE Country Office, GGGI HQ, Korean stakeholders and UAE partners.

 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

GGGI UAE Country Programm is seeking for two motivated and highly organized Korean interns with excellent English communication skills to support the GGGI UAE Country Programme from GGGI Headquarters in Seoul during September and October 2026.

The interns will work as a dedicated Korea-based support team for the UAE Country Programme. Depending on their individual skills and experience, responsibilities may be divided between the two interns while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing programme priorities and workload.

The assignment will provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in international development, climate and green growth cooperation, government relations, stakeholder engagement, event coordination, research, communications and strategic partnership development.

SCOPE OF WORK

 

The interns will provide coordination, research, documentation and operational support to the UAE Country Programme, including but not limited to the following:

  1. GGGI Week 2026
  • Support the UAE's participation in GGGI Week 2026, including the preparation and coordination of UAE-related sessions, events, meetings and consultations.
  • Support preparation for the AC session and other UAE-related engagements.
  • Assist UAE delegation members with meeting schedules, agendas, briefing materials, logistical arrangements and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with relevant GGGI HQ teams and other stakeholders to ensure timely preparation and delivery of UAE-related activities.
  • Maintain consolidated schedules and engagement trackers.
  1. UAE–GGGI Co-hosted Events
  • Support the preparation and delivery of UAE–GGGI co-hosted events in Korea.
  • Assist with invitations, participant coordination, agendas, event materials and logistical arrangements.
  • Coordinate with UAE and GGGI stakeholders and Korean counterparts.
  • Support event-day coordination and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with documentation and records of meetings and events.
  1. UAE Government and Partner Delegations
  • Support UAE government and institutional partners visiting Korea.
  • Conduct research on relevant Korean government entities, institutions, companies, universities, research organizations and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying potential meetings and engagement opportunities in line with delegation priorities.
  • Support meeting scheduling, invitations, confirmations, agendas and logistical coordination.
  • Prepare and maintain delegation schedules and engagement trackers.
  • Support post-meeting follow-up and documentation.
  1. Strategic Partnerships and MOUs
  • Support preparations for potential strategic partnership agreements and MOUs between GGGI, UAE partners and relevant Korean stakeholders.
  • Assist with meeting coordination, documentation, signing arrangements and related logistics.
  • Support the preparation of background information and briefing materials for potential partners.
  • Track outstanding actions and follow-up requirements related to partnership discussions.
  1. Potential GG Summit Sponsorship
  • Support preparations related to potential UAE government sponsorship of the GG Summit, should discussions progress.
  • Assist with background research, stakeholder coordination, documentation, meetings and other preparations as required.
  1. UAE–Korea Stakeholder Engagement
  • Conduct research and stakeholder mapping of relevant Korean:
    • Government ministries and agencies;
    • Public institutions;
    • Companies and private-sector organizations;
    • Universities and research institutions;
    • Development and international organizations; and
    • Other potential strategic partners.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder databases and engagement trackers.
  • Collect and summarize relevant information to support UAE Programme engagement and partnership development.
  1. Research and Preparation of Materials
  • Support preparation of:
    • Briefing notes;
    • Talking points;
    • Presentations;
    • Concept notes;
    • Meeting agendas;
    • Background notes;
    • Stakeholder profiles;
    • Event materials; and
    • Other programme documentation.
  • Conduct desk research on Korean institutions, policies, organizations and potential areas of cooperation relevant to the UAE Programme.
  • Collect, summarize and organize relevant knowledge resources and reference materials.
  1. Coordination, Tracking and Follow-up
  • Maintain consolidated meeting, event, engagement and action trackers.
  • Monitor outstanding requests, commitments and follow-up actions.
  • Support timely communication between the UAE Country Office, GGGI HQ, Korean stakeholders and UAE partners.
  • Assist with preparation of meeting minutes, action points and follow-up communications.
  • Provide general coordination and logistical support before, during and after events and meetings.
  1. Other Programme Support
  • Provide other closely related research, coordination, documentation and operational support requested by the UAE Country Representative and designated Country Office/HQ colleagues.
  • Adapt to evolving priorities and workload during the assignment period.

The two interns may be assigned different areas of focus according to their skills, academic background and experience. However, both interns are expected to work collaboratively and provide mutual support during periods of high workload.

 

ELIGIBILITY                                          

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor's final year, Master's or PhD programme prior to the internship assignment, or be a recent graduate within the last 12 months;
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute's work;
  • Possess an excellent command of English; and
  • Be available to undertake the internship at GGGI Headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea during the assignment period.
QUALIFICATION
  • (MANDATORY) Bachelor’s (or final year) in International Relations, Public Policy, International Development, Business Administration, Communications, Event Management, another relevant discipline, or related fields.
  • (MANDATORY) Be able to work and currently living in the Republic of Korea, Seoul.
  • (MANDATORY) Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to prepare professional written materials and communicate effectively in an international working environment.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong research, analytical and writing capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • A proactive, flexible and solutions-oriented approach.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned actions.

 

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Duration: This internship is designated to be for  two months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 

Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.  

Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  

Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  

Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.

Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  

Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  

Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.

Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.

Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
