As a YP, you will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and institutions, applying your expertise to help address pressing development challenges and improve lives around the world. 
 
YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office.  These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution. 
 
Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders.

What You’ll Deliver 

The YP will contribute across a broad range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Supporting the origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, execution, and supervision of investment transactions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Contributing to the development of investment pipelines and the identification of strategic business opportunities.
• Undertaking financial analysis, market assessments, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring to support investment and portfolio management decisions.
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients, investors, partners, and other key stakeholders. 
• Supporting knowledge management, research, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. 
• Contributing to strategic initiatives, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During their first two years, they have the unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and experience through rotational assignments across the World Bank Group.

Additionally, YPs take part in a structured learning and talent development journey through their YP Academy. Key elements include technical and operations training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. YPs also receive one-on-one coaching, connect with mentors, and engage in strategy-focused dialogues with senior leaders.

Selection Criteria

What You’ll Bring 

• Completion of a masters-level degree in a relevant field, or a higher qualification, before September 1, 2026
• 2-6 years experience following undergraduate studies 
• Demonstrated technical depth, technical breadth, expertise and experience in most of the following areas:
• Solid experience in project finance, corporate finance, and/or private equity.
• Proven ability to structure, analyze, and execute complex financial transactions using tools such as financial modeling, equity valuation, and credit analysis.
• Mastery of equity, debt, and/or capital markets financial instruments.
• Experience in portfolio supervision, project management, and investor relations, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
• Experience in product development, innovation, or process improvement within financial or operational contexts.
• Capacity to synthesize complex information and present actionable insights.
• Proficiency in digital tools and platforms including AI literacy, Excel, Power BI, SQL, and/or market intelligence systems such as Bloomberg, Dealogic, and Debt Domain. 
• Leadership potential, including accountability and results orientation, ability to influence and inspire results, and manage self, projects, people and results
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills: quantitative, qualitative, analytical, strategic; and sound business judgment
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner
• Flexibility and adaptability to working in complex multi-stakeholder and multi-cultural contexts
• Excellent command of spoken and written English language (fluency in other languages might be advantageous to your application)
