YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office.  These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution.
Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders.
The Tourism, Retail and Property (TRP) business sits in the Tourism and Services Solutions and Impact unit. The TRP sector’s business has been growing significantly to approximately US$5 billion in annual commitments. IFC has played a key role in supporting these sectors in developing countries The team works with a wide range of investment products, from project and corporate finance on the debt side, to equity and quasi-equity in private and listed companies. The team also supports development and deployment of advisory and upstream tools to strengthen private sector’s capability and development impact and catalyze further investment in the covered sectors in the emerging markets. 
What you will deliver
  • Under the guidance of the TRP Global Sector Manager/ Global Sector Leads, manage and drive special initiatives from time to time in the subsectors or across the TRP space.
  • Support the development and implementation of the sector strategies in close coordination with the Global Sector Leads to support a profitable, sustainable, consistent, high-quality growth for the portfolio in the sectors. Update as needed and operationalize the TRP Playbook.
  • Help create impactful business development material including pitchbooks, presentations, mappings and deal sheets for various regions and subsectors.
  • Work alongside Industry Specialists and Investment Officers throughout the project lifecycle, including project screening, due diligence, appraisal, and approvals.
  • Support portfolio monitoring and extract best practices and lessons learned to inform future projects.
  • Participate in development and deployment of advisory and value-added sector products such as GRIP and Pillar.
  • Develop sector knowledge deliverables such as sector guidance notes on relevant topics, presentations to various stakeholders, monthly knowledge and pipeline calls with the regions to further institutional understanding of sector-specific investment opportunities, challenges, and KPIs.
  • Facilitate knowledge flow across IFC and promote adoption of new approaches and best practices for TRP, including activities covering mainstream investment, upstream and advisory services.

What you will bring
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in finance and/or economics; accounting is a plus.
  • 2-6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Work experience in investment or corporate banking or financial consulting preferred.
  • Basic understanding of key assessment aspects for investment transactions. 
  • Understanding financial models, financial statements, and equity valuations. Ability to prepare investment analysis with project/transaction description, market and industry analysis and investment return analysis. 
  • Data analysis and synthesis skills; comfortable navigating databases.
  • Master Excel and PowerPoint skills with strong data processing capacity. Able to distill and summarize large amounts of information from various sources to prepare impactful documents and presentations. 
  • Ability to utilize graphics and tables to effectively and creatively present data. Data analysis, statistics and presentation skills such as Tableau are preferred. 
  • Ability to multi-task, be pro-active, and deliver excellence under time pressure. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with different stakeholders or task owners. Ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Excellent people skills, openness to feedback and new ideas.
