LMF & RH Lead – Caster

As our LMF & RH Lead, you will join the Caster Production team within Steel Operations and take a leading technical role within our Secondary Metallurgy operations.

You will be a key technical expert for our Ladle Metallurgical Furnace LMF and RH Vacuum Degasser, supporting safe, stable and efficient production while helping establish the operational standards and ways of working for these areas.

Working close to production, maintenance, process engineering and other technical functions, you will troubleshoot operational challenges, optimize processes and support the development of our teams through hands-on guidance and knowledge sharing.

This is an opportunity to take an important role in building and developing our Secondary Metallurgy operations as we move through commissioning, ramp-up and towards stable production.

What you'll do

As LMF & RH Lead, you'll combine deep technical knowledge of Secondary Metallurgy with a hands-on approach to operations, problem-solving and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the technical expert for LMF and RH operations, supporting daily production, troubleshooting and long-term process improvements.

  • Monitor and optimize LMF and RH process performance to improve safety, stability, quality, productivity and reliability.

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve operational standards and best practices, ensuring they are understood and followed by the production teams.

  • Lead and support structured fault finding, root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to process and equipment performance.

  • Monitor the condition and performance of LMF and RH equipment, including relevant Material Handling Systems (MHS), and work closely with Maintenance on preventive maintenance and shutdown activities.

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and knowledge sharing to operators and less experienced colleagues, supporting the development of a high-performing team.

  • Collaborate across Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering and other functions to drive continuous improvement and achieve operational targets.

What you'll bring

We're looking for an experienced Secondary Metallurgy professional with strong technical knowledge of LMF and RH operations and the ability to turn that expertise into stable and effective production practices.

  • A degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or another relevant technical field is considered an advantage.

  • Solid experience within Secondary Metallurgy, with hands-on experience from LMF/LMF and RH Vacuum Degassing operations.

  • Strong technical understanding of secondary refining processes, process stabilization, optimization and operational troubleshooting.

  • Experience developing and implementing operational standards and continuous improvement practices, including structured approaches such as PDCA.

  • Experience working closely with maintenance teams on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance and shutdown planning.

  • Strong understanding of safety requirements and operational risks within steelmaking or another heavy industrial environment.

  • A collaborative and supportive approach, with the ability to coach, guide and share technical knowledge within a multicultural production environment.

This is Stegra

Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.

Our Boden Site

Our Boden site is located just west of Boden City, right in the heart of a growing green industrial hub in Northern Sweden. It’s where we’re building one of the world’s most modern, sustainable steel plants - designed with safety, efficiency, and people in mind.

With just a 10-minute commute from town, you'll be close to both cutting-edge technology and the everyday convenience of living near nature, schools, and community life.
