Overview of positionThe contracted personnel is responsible for the installation, maintenance & repair of ICT equipment & must have a strong knowledge of rigging procedures, safety regulations & the ability to work at heights. Riggers must also be skilled in using various hand & power tools & have excellent problem solving skills.
Role objectivesMust be able to do site survey, plan & provide requirements for mast / tower base foundation work.
Experience on construction & dismantling of Communication mast / tower.
Preparation & shipment of communications materials on the sites.
Perform annual Inspection & safety maintenance of all structures across the mission.
Install & maintain ICT infrastructure, including towers, antennas & cables.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations & procedures while working at heights.
Knowledgeable in using various equipment & tools, such as hoists & rigging equipment, to install & maintain telecom equipment.
Troubleshoot & repair telecom equipment & infrastructure as needed.
Keep accurate records of work completed & materials used.
Stay up to date with industry trends & advancements in technology.
Always adhere to company policies & procedures.
Ability to climb towers & work at heights.
Willingness to work outdoors & in varying weather conditions.
Physical fitness & ability to carry heavy equipment.
Provide product specific training whenever required.
Be on call & provide 24 x 7 support to troubleshoot issues or problems when required especially during crisis & emergency situations.
Perform any other ICT duties & tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
The ICT Systems Integration Support - Rigging unit will be working under the direct supervision of the Rigging Unit Supervisor in UNMISS, Republic of South Sudan.
Expert:
Degree or diploma in electronic, electrical, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or other related field.
Must have at least 8 years of working experience relating to the required technical knowledge written above.
The following rigging valid certification from international recognized institution are required Sope Rigging International, Fall Arrest & Basic Rescue International.
Experience & knowledge of civil works related to tower construction, troubleshooting installations, site survey, grounding electrical installations, installation of tower lights, lightening arrestors, welding & fabrication are desirable.
Experience in using power tools, site master, through line watt meters & relevant measuring devices.
Experience & knowledge in high radio frequency equipment / microwave radio / & or FM broadcast communications systems are desirable.
Installation & maintenance of meteorological equipment are desirable.
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite & others.
Project Management Certification or ITIL Foundation are desirable.
Experience in South Sudan is desirable.
Must have a national driver’s license & able to drive a light motor vehicle with manual transmission.
Must be fluent in English, both written & oral.
