Mission and objectives
UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
UNFPA supports:
• Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) for all, particularly women and girls in more than 150 countries – home to more than 80 per cent of the world’s population. SRH includes;
The health of pregnant women, especially the 10-15 million who face life-threatening complications each year
Reliable access to modern contraceptives sufficient to benefit 20 million women a year
Training of thousands of health workers, particularly midwives to help ensure at least 80 per cent of all child births are supervised by skilled attendants
Prevention of teen and early pregnancies, complications of which are the leading cause of death for girls 15-19 years old
Delivery of safe birth supplies, dignity kits and other life-saving materials to survivors of conflict and natural disaster
• Prevention of gender-based violence (GBV), one of the most common forms of violence today affecting 1 in 3 women across the globe
• Abandonment of female genital mutilation, which harms 3 million girls annually
• Gender-responsive, age appropriate Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
• Efforts to end child marriage affecting 12 million girls every year
• Countries in development of youth policies and reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health policies and action plans.
• Population census, demographic health surveys, research, data collection and analysis, which are essential for development planning as well as in humanitarian settings

Context
Sudan is currently facing the world’s largest internal displacement crisis, with approximately 8.6 million people displaced within the country, and 4.6 million returnees.
Women and girls continue to live at extremely high risk of all forms of gender-based violence (GBV). The presence of continued conflict in locations across the country, resource shortages - including water, food, and fuel, and internal displacement, increase the risk for sexual exploitation, intimate partner and domestic violence, conflict-related sexual violence and increased incidents of harmful practices. and lack of access to essential services, including for health, mental health and psychosocial services, and specialised GBV services, Older women, adolescent girls, and women and girls living with disabilities face additional concerns and challenges.
As the country steers towards recovery and long-term resilience, it is imperative that information, risk mitigation, economic empowerment are available to women and girls, and a refocus on social norms and behaviour change is prioritised to reduce the risks of female genital mutilation and early marriage, and to ensure that women have a voice in peacekeeping and the rebuilding of the country.

Task description
Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA GBV Team Lead and under direct supervision of the Federal Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, the GBV Programme Analyst will undertake the following tasks:
Technical and administrative support to the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare
• Assist the Minister in coordinating policies, meetings, and activities related to promotion of gender equality, women’s protection and empowerment and GBV prevention and risk mitigation.
• Support the minister in drafting policies, strategies and decisions, as well as organizing the strategic meetings and events related to gender equality and GBV prevention
• Support the Minister in initiatives related to promotion of the rights of women and children (for example - drafting the action plans, assessments and consultations in process of drafting the relevant laws, drafting and review of related decisions), as well as in strategic advocacy for inclusion and representation of women in political, peace and decision making processes at all levels.
• Monitoring of protection risks and emerging issues affecting women and girls, with concise analysis and recommendations.
• Support the MoHRSD on follow up action based on the decisions and developed gender strategies.
• Prepare briefing notes, summaries, and analytical updates on key gender and developments related to gender equality (in both English and Arabic).
• Serve as the focal point for correspondence and communication with national and international partners including UNFPA, while ensuring clarity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Gender and GBV Programme Management and Coordination:
• Provide the technical support to the program and budget management of GBV activities under the MoHRSD, at the national and the state levels.
• Coordinate the support of MOHRSD to the GBV response actors on the ground, to ensure access in line with the humanitarian principles; coordination with the national and international partners, women-led organisations, civil society and UN agencies.
• Institutional capacity building of government and other partners.
• Undertake other relevant duties as assigned by the Minister.
Cross-Cutting issues
• Promote do not harm, accountability to the affected populations (AAP) and prevention of sexual abuse, exploitation and harassment (PSEAH) principles across the initiatives supported by UNFPA.
• Ensure that persons with disability are benefiting from UNFPA supported services and facilities.
• Carry any other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
