Statistician – Development Finance
- Full-time
- Directorate: DCD
- Grade: PAL3
Company Description
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.
The Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD) encourages co-ordinated, innovative, international action to accelerate the implementation of Agenda 2030 in developing countries and to improve the financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Directorate helps set international standards for development co-operation, supporting the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC), and monitors how donors deliver on their commitments. Drawing upon OECD-wide expertise, DCD supports members and partners with data, analysis and guidance.
The Financing for Sustainable Development (FSD) Division defines measurement standards and collects, reviews and publishes open, transparent, high-quality quantitative and qualitative data on external development finance, from a wide range of stakeholders, including DAC members, non–DAC providers, multilateral organisations and major private providers. FSD supports the DAC Working Party on Development Finance Statistics (WP-STAT) and liaises with other relevant statistical frameworks, in particular the International Forum on Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (IFT) whose Secretariat is hosted by the OECD.
DCD is looking for an experienced Statistician with strong statistical and analytical skills to contribute to the Creditor Reporting System (CRS) data on official and private financial resources provided to developing countries in support of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Responsibilities include improving the presentation and analysis of development finance statistics, developing procedures for efficient data management and quality assurance, and conducting analysis of key themes and issues in development co-operation using the CRS.
The successful candidate will work in the Statistical Collections and Dissemination Unit, under the supervision of the Head of Unit, and under the overall guidance of the FSD Head of the Division. He/she will interact regularly with other staff in the Unit and other relevant teams in the DCD.
