About this position

We are looking for a dynamic, analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative consultant to support the preparation of projects in the water, sanitation, and solid waste sector. The consultant will also contribute to the identification and application of artificial intelligence and other digital tools to improve operational processes, data analysis, knowledge management, and project preparation.

You will work in Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Division (WSA), part of the Infrastructure and Energy (INE) Sector. This team is responsible for conceptualizing, preparing, supporting the execution of IDB’s operations related to water, sanitation, and solid waste.

What you’ll do

  • Support the preparation of loans, technical cooperations, and other operational instruments through the approval process.
  • Identify and apply artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital tools to improve project preparation, document review, data analysis, knowledge management, and internal processes.
  • Support AI-enabled solutions, including data analysis, information classification, document summarization, process automation, and the preparation of analytical outputs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies and alignment between project activities, operating plans, and established timelines.
  • Update operational information and documentation in Convergence and other relevant systems.
  • Propose innovative and efficient approaches to improve internal processes.
  • Perform other duties required to support the effective delivery of the Division’s operational services.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, water and/or sanitation subjects, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. 
  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in project preparation, project management, data analysis, digital transformation, or related activities. Knowledge in water, sanitation, solid waste, or development sectors, as well as AI tools, is desirable.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required.

Type of contract and duration

  • International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
