• Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) for all, particularly women and girls in more than 150 countries – home to more than 80 per cent of the world’s population. SRH includes;
 The health of pregnant women, especially the 10-15 million who face life-threatening complications each year
 Reliable access to modern contraceptives sufficient to benefit 20 million women a year
 Training of thousands of health workers, particularly midwives to help ensure at least 80 per cent of all child births are supervised by skilled attendants
 Prevention of teen and early pregnancies, complications of which are the leading cause of death for girls 15-19 years old
 Delivery of safe birth supplies, dignity kits and other life-saving materials to survivors of conflict and natural disaster
• Prevention of gender-based violence (GBV), one of the most common forms of violence today affecting 1 in 3 women across the globe
• Abandonment of female genital mutilation, which harms 3 million girls annually
• Gender-responsive, age appropriate Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
• Efforts to end child marriage affecting 12 million girls every year
• Countries in development of youth policies and reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health policies and action plans.
• Population census, demographic health surveys, research, data collection and analysis, which are essential for development planning as well as in humanitarian settings

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sudan works to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. To ensure the safe and continuous delivery of life-saving sexual and reproductive health services and gender-based violence (GBV) protection, particularly in complex and high-risk environments, maintaining strong security risk management is critical. Operating within the UNFPA Country Office Security Unit, the National UN Volunteer Security Associate will provide crucial support in context analysis, threat monitoring, field movement tracking, and physical security management across UNFPA facilities and operational sites. Working closely with UNDSS, local security authorities, and humanitarian field teams, the UN Volunteer will play a vital role in enabling duty-of-care frameworks that protect UNFPA personnel, partners, and assets on the frontlines.

National UN Specialist Volunteers in Sudan are entitled to:

●Assist in gathering, verifying, and analysing security information from UN organisations, partner organisations, media, and field networks to assess potential impacts on UNFPA operations;
● Assist in drafting timely security alerts, daily situation updates, and comprehensive incident reports.
● Help maintain and operate the Security Communications System (VHF/UHF radio networks, satellite phones, and emergency mass notification systems) for UNFPA;
● Support the maintenance and regular testing of the UN Warden System and update country security plans and contingency plans;
● Assist in conducting physical security surveys of UNFPA offices, and guest houses to ensure compliance with physical and procedural Security Risk Management (SRM) measures;
● Maintain updated personnel lists, and security asset inventories for the office;
● Provide assistance to and follow up on security incidents affecting UNFPA personnel, assets (including premises) and programmes;
● Be aware of security procedures in place and support in organizing and conducting trainings, briefings on relevant security risk management process, procedures or measures including orientation/security briefings to newly assigned personnel;
● Follows up that all personnel falling under the UN SMS have completed mandatory security trainings, their global directory personal profile updated and facilitates provision of relevant data to UN DSS.
● Ensure compliance with Security Risk Management measures including security equipment and monitors and facilitates security equipment remaining functional, e.g.: Emergency Communication System (ECS radios, Sat Phones, etc.), IFAK/Trauma bags, fire extinguishers, vehicle kits, CCTV cameras, and advice management on any deficiencies;
● Facilitates compilation of programme assessments of UNFPA programmatic activities with UNFPA programme personnel to incorporate into the security risk management process;
● Facilitates requirements related to UNFPA security information systems are being complied with (Global Directory, and the security component of the BCP),
● Provides general administrative assistance in security-related matters and maintains routine and confidential correspondence, files/documents;
● Carry any other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
