UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships Services in our Office in Paris, France. Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern. For more than seven decades, UNHCR's work in over 130 countries has helped over 84 million people restart their lives.

UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships department (PSP) plays a crucial role in helping expand the organization’s funding base, while ensuring a sustainable and predictable stream of income. Although currently representing a small portion of UNHCR’s overall revenues, the contribution from the private sector is nonetheless significant and rapidly increasing.

PSP focuses on two main income pillars (Private Partnerships & Philanthropy (PPH) and Individual Giving (IG)) and is committed to further expand digitally. Since 2015 in France, UNHCR supporters and donor’s portfolio have significantly grown and PSP France aims to reinforce its private sector communication strategy and assets to increase brand equity, engage with new audience and communicate timely and accurate information with general public.

The Snr. Fundraising Assistant (Database) position, based in Paris, offers a unique opportunity to work within the PSP Europe team dedicated to raising funds and establishing partnerships for UNHCR with the private sector in Europe.

Organizational context:

The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels.

The position is part of UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships Unit, which sits within the Department of External Relations (DER) responsible for mobilizing resources to enable UNHCR’s refugee response programming around the world.

This position sits within UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships team in France, which aims to raise funds from private sector donors in France and Monaco to support UNHCR’s work.

The position:

We are seeking a dynamic, expert and agile team player, who is able to work independently as well, with a strong interest in fundraising, to become a steady and reliable asset to the UNHCR France operation within PSP Europe.

UNHCR France is looking for a fundraising database assistant to support the Database Associate in daily tasks (implementing fundraising campaigns, building data reports and analysis, optimize donor segmentation, etc.) and fundraising infrastructures migration projects – E-commerce and database.

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the PSP Individual Giving Associate (Database), the Snr Fundraising Assistant (Database) will perform the following responsibilities:

• Support the Salesforce Database project through the configuration, development, testing and rollout phases;
• Assist in documenting new policies, procedures and training materials on the system;
• Help ensure that the database configuration complies with donor management requirements and relevant data protection regulations including CNIL and GDPR,
• Assist in ensuring that the database is configured to best meet the team fundraising objectives for both Individual Giving and Private Partnerships & Philanthropy;
• Perform Regular data maintenance tasks: performing regular data administration tasks such as importing and updating data into the database from external sources and data quality control;
• Support the PSP France team with segmentation, data selection and list exports;
• Carry out fulfilment and data entry operations resulted by outbound communication activities with donors (telemarketing, emails, newsletters etc.);
• Support fundraising performance analysis through the creation of reports, dashboard and data extracts;
• Collaborate with /Assisting Assoc. Fundraising Data Analyst Officer (Europe) and Global Strategy and Analysis team on fundraising data reports and analysis and optimizing fundraising infrastructures (database, e-commerce, etc.) including the use of Power BI and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS);
• Work closely with PSP team in France and the Database Support Associate to ensure successful integration with the Payment Gateway, email marketing tool (Selligent), telemarketing agencies and other third party provides;
• Collaborate with HQ and the Database Support Associate during the tools migration projects: ecommerce, database SF and data lake. Testing and data migration support;
• Provide adequate support and input during the requirements gathering, system design, development, testing and rollout phases of the project as well as providing support and training to local users on an operational basis;
• Perform any other duties as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required
The ideal candidate will be required to have:

• Minimum 2 years of previous working experience relevant to the function combined with Secondary Education (High School diploma) or minimum 1 year of relevant working experience with a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Data science, Marketing, Business, or related field;
• Knowledge and experience in database management and software, especially for marketing/fundraising purposes;
• Highly motivated, with an ability to complete tasks, with strong attention to details;
• Fluency in French and English are essential (written/oral/comprehension);
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Very strong organizational skills;
• Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Service-oriented attitude.

Conditions:

The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCR’s office in Paris, France.

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal on a yearly basis. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

The salary is in line with the local UN GS Salary scale.
