PURPOSE OF THE ENGAGEMENT

Smarter Good (the “Client”) engages the Writing Consultant (the “Contractor”) as an independent professional to provide specialized technical writing and research services. The Contractor is engaged as an external expert to produce high-quality, project-based written deliverables—including funding proposals, grant reports, and research briefs—to support the fundraising and communication objectives of nonprofit organizations. As an independent provider, the Contractor retains full discretion over the methods, tools, and schedule used to achieve the defined milestones and is responsible for the technical execution of all work products.

The Contractor may provide services to other clients during the term of this engagement and is not required to provide services exclusively to the Client.

DELIVERABLES

The Contractor is responsible for the delivery of the following specific work products:

1. Strategic Written Content Files

  • Final Project Source Files: Delivery of completed source files (e.g., Word or Google Doc) for high-stakes materials, including funding proposals, grant reports, and case studies.
  • External Communications Assets: Production of finalized website content, donor updates, and stewardship materials, formatted and ready for client distribution.

2. Research & Landscape Documentation

  • Strategic Research Briefs: Delivery of structured reports documenting technical research findings, such as funder briefs and landscape analyses.
  • Prospect Identification Reports: Production of vetted prospect lists and funder alignment summaries delivered as a final data package.

3. Quality Assurance & Revision Packages

  • Final Revision Cycles: Delivery of the final, accepted revision package for each written output, demonstrating that the Contractor has independently integrated technical feedback to meet client specifications.
  • Documentation & Reference Logs: Submission of organized electronic logs and reference indexes summarizing materials used for final deliverables.

4. Post-Project Analytical Reports

  • Post-Mortem Analysis Reports: Delivery of a written Lessons Learned document upon the conclusion of a project, providing technical recommendations for future content strategies.
  • Final Project Dossiers: Provision of a consolidated folder of all final outputs and reference paths required for final project fee settlement.
