In the Middle East Region, Malteser International (MI) is operating in the context of the humanitarian crisis in Syria since 2012 implementing emergency relief measures in Türkiye, Syria, and Lebanon and since 2014 in Iraq. MI’s programs cover needs mainly in the health sector and are mostly partner implemented. In the Holy Land, in the Holy Land, MI is coordinating the provision of primary health care services to affected communities.

For its support in the Holy Land, Malteser International is looking for a qualified Physiotherapist (Part-time) - National Position with experience in providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, preferably in a clinical or humanitarian setting.

As a Physiotherapist, you will provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to patients. You will develop individualized treatment plans, monitor patient progress, provide therapeutic exercises and mobility support, and maintain accurate clinical documentation while coordinating with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' physical capacities, using different procedures (e.g., functional capacity tests) in order to set up treatment objectives with the patient and therefore improve the patient's health and well-being.
  • Elaborate and implement physiotherapy programs, including physiotherapy exercises, manipulations, massages, education, and utilization of assistive devices.
  • Educate and advise patients on how to prevent and/or improve conditions, to accelerate and improve activity results.
  • Deliver physiotherapy sessions both in the field (as part of the CBR ) /or in PHC.
  • Support patients with mobility training, strength and balance exercises, and functional recovery after amputations, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and other physical impairments.
  • Train caregivers and family members on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques.
  • Work closely with the medical doctor, nurse, psychologist, and social worker to ensure a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Support the identification and correct use of assistive devices (wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetics, etc.).

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited University.
  • Valid license/registration to practice physiotherapy in Palestine.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in rehabilitation services for children and conflict-related injuries.
  • Strong experience in community-based rehabilitation (CBR) or field/outreach services is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of physiotherapy interventions for musculoskeletal, neurological, and pediatric cases.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and disability inclusion principles.
