ABOUT THE POSITION

The Alliance of Bioversity International and
CIAT delivers research-based solutions to sustainably transform food systems
and improve people’s lives. As part of its research on multifunctional
landscapes in Kenya, the Alliance has collected household and farm-level
socio-economic data in Kiambu and Makueni counties using the Holistic Localized
Performance Assessment (HOLPA) framework. The Alliance is seeking an MSc intern
to support the in-depth analysis and synthesis of the existing HOLPA data,
including further development of existing R scripts and generation of plots,
tables, and other research outputs.

*MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Review and
    organize the existing HOLPA socio-economic datasets and relevant analytical
    variables.

  2. Use and
    further develop existing R scripts for analysis of household- and farm-level
    socio-economic data.

  3. Assess the
    degree of agroecology across farms and examine differences in socio-economic
    and farm performance across different levels of agroecology.

  4. Analyze
    relationships, correlations, synergies, and trade-offs between the degree of
    agroecology and different dimensions of farm and household performance.

  5. Generate
    publication-quality plots and tables and support the interpretation and
    synthesis of key findings.

  6. Contribute to
    a scientific manuscript through data analysis, preparation of figures and
    tables, and interpretation of results.

Requirements

Education and Requirements

Currently pursuing an MSc in Agricultural Economics,
Data Science, Applied Statistics, Economics, or a related field.

​ Skills:

  • Knowledge of quantitative
    and statistical data analysis.

  • Familiarity with R or
    other statistical software.

  • Interest in agricultural
    and socio-economic data analysis.

  • Good analytical, writing,
    and communication skills.

  • Willingness to learn and
    work within a multidisciplinary research team.

This is a
nationally recruited position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The contract will be for
up to Three (3) Months.
