Since 1863, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has worked to preserve human dignity and relieve suffering caused by war and armed violence.

In collaboration with our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners around the world, we do everything we can to deliver life-saving aid, reconnect families and locate missing people – helping those who need it most, regardless of who they are and what side of the front line they are on.

We engage with authorities and armed forces on all sides, often confidentially, pressing for access to detainees to improve their living conditions and urging compliance with international humanitarian law to protect non-combatants, including from digital threats.

Purpose

The Fleet New Technology Adviser guides fleet technical staff worldwide towards achieving a high level of maintenance and service standards, and is the know-how leader for ICRC delegations on new transportation technologies.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

•    Supports users by proposing technical solutions and providing the necessary training;
•    Centralize all the technical requests and liaise with the delegations to solve the issues;
•    Communicates with vehicle manufacturer`s  technical hubs for technical support when required;
•    Ensures that ICRC technicians have access to all specialized tools and manufacturer technical websites;
•    Create technical notes or repair manuals related to technical issues and share them with different stakeholders;
•    Liaise with the delegations using Renault trucks, proposes & organizes preventive/curative visits with the Renault Diagnostic Tool;
•    Advises technicians on troubleshooting and repairing both complex electrical and mechanical problems;
•    Provides the Fleet Management Unit at headquarters with the latest technical manuals needed in the field;
•    Organizes/outsource Renault truck trainings &other manufacturer technical trainings upon request;
•    Keep the Diagnostic tools inventory list up to date & make sure all the diagnostic tools are registered,in working condition & updated properly;
•    Organize/Outsource  trainings for mechanics on all the Diagnostic tools available and supervise their usage;
•    Liaise and guide the delegations in the choice of purchase of diagnostics or specialized tools;
•    Follows up on the latest technologies in relation to vehicle fleet needs worldwide;
•    Proposes processes and structural changes related to vehicle service when required;
•    Assume and organize implementing fleet environmental solutions  and future vehicle innovations ( Hybrid/electric/solar).

Professional experience required

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical or Automotive Engineering from a recognized university;
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Industrial vehicle mechatronic, Lifting equipment and boats experience is an asset;
  • Previous working experience with international organizations is an asset;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (Knowledge of French is an asset);
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point), with experience in asset management ERPs;
  • Valid truck driving license mandatory with articulated motor vehicle stamp, forklift and/or boat certification is an asset;
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills;
  • High organizational and analytical skills;
  • Strong team leadership skills and supervision experience is an asset;
  • Able to develop and sustain a network of key contacts;
  • Expected to travel regularly to various countries.
