Intern

Please note this position is for 6 months. 

Purpose of Job:

Under the supervision of the Regional Director, East Mediterranean, the intern will support regional business development, market intelligence, strategic analysis and reporting activities across Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and West Bank & Gaza.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on key sector players, market dynamics, competitive landscapes across priority sectors in the East Mediterranean region.
• Undertake macroeconomic, sector and market research, including analysis of economic trends, regulatory developments, sector performance and growth prospects.
• Monitor market developments and prepare periodic updates on economic and sector trends relevant to EBRD's activities in the region.
• Gather, analyse and present information on companies, sectors and markets to support business development, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
• Assist in the preparation of sector reviews, market assessments, country briefs, management presentations and strategic reports.
• Coordinate with EBRD sector teams, economists, country teams and other departments to collect information and contribute to sector reports, market studies and knowledge products.
• Draft briefing notes, presentations, reports and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare background materials for meetings with clients, government counterparts, development partners and other stakeholders.
• Attend meetings, take notes and support the follow-up of agreed actions where appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Key skills required:

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to conduct market, sector and macroeconomic research and synthesize findings into concise reports.
• Financial analysis skills and ability to work with financial and operational data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis and presentation preparation.
• Strong research, report writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders across teams and functions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic would be an advantage.
• Interest in economic development, private sector development and emerging markets.

Education/Experience Required:

• Undergraduate in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, International Development or a related field.
• Advanced computer literacy, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint and research databases.
• Previous internship or work experience in financial institutions, consulting, research organisations, government agencies or international organisations would be an advantage.
