Mission and objectives
Through its unique coordination, operational and normative mandate, UNMAS works across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus to protect people from the threat of explosive ordnance, prevent resurgence of violence, strengthen national capacities and enable sustainable solutions to mine action until UN assistance is no longer requested. Strategic Outcome 1: Coherent approaches to mine action are delivered. Strategic Outcome 2: Protection from the risks and impacts of explosive ordnance is strengthened. Strategic Outcome 3: Victims3 of explosive ordnance have equal access to relevant social services and participate fully in social and economic life
Context
The programme supports the Government of Colombia and the broader Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) sector. The programme supports national efforts related to HMA and compliance
with the State’s obligations under the Ottawa Convention, while contributing to humanitarian, protection, peacebuilding, and development objectives.
UNMAS Colombia provides technical assistance to national and sub-national authorities, including the Mine Action Center (MAC)/AICMA Group under the Office of the Counselor Commissioner for Peace (OCCP), as well as to humanitarian and development actors involved in Mine Action. Through coordination, capacity development, operational support, information management, risk education, victim assistance, and policy engagement, the programme aims to strengthen institutional capacities and enable communities affected by explosive ordnance (EO) to live in safer environments.
UNMAS Colombia implements projects aligned with national Mine Action priorities, the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), humanitarian response priorities, and international Mine Action standards and commitments. As lead of the Mine Action Area of Responsibility within the Protection Cluster, UNMAS also supports coordination and integration of Mine Action within broader humanitarian and protection responses.

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Mine Action Programme Colombia (CMAP), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Support drafting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual programme/project reports.
• Support the preparation of draft budgets and project proposals/documents for new projects to be submitted to donors.
• Support the preparation of draft extension requests for ongoing projects.
• Contribute to the management of programme/project monitoring and evaluation mechanisms (e.g. management of indicator data, administration and analysis of programme/project activity reporting).
• Support capturing lessons learned and best practices within the programme; Facilitate cross-project learning and best practice transfer through documentation and dissemination/sharing of lessons learned.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for trainings, workshops, meetings, and field activities, including coordination with participants, partners, and relevant stakeholders, and support operational preparations and activity implementation in line with programme priorities.
• Support UNMAS Colombia participation in inter-agency mechanisms as necessary, including the support in the coordination of the Mine Action Area of Responsibility, within the Protection Cluster.
• Support coordination, planning, monitoring, and information-sharing processes within the humanitarian mine action sector and broader humanitarian architecture.
• Support UNMAS Colombia communications and visibility strategy (drafting of social media content, support with the organization of events, etc.)
• Support resource mobilization, donor engagement, advocacy and visibility initiatives,

• Participate in the documentation of decisions and actions taken on programme issues.
During the first month of the assignment, the UN Volunteer will work closely with his/her direct supervisor to finalize an agreed-upon work plan. The work plan should outline key objectives and activities and include regular check-ins with the supervisor to review progress and receive performance feedback.
