About Doc Martyn Foundation

The Doc Martyn Foundation for Charity is an international nonprofit organisation supporting healthcare, rescue and humanitarian programmes across Thailand. We work to raise awareness, engage supporters and connect volunteers and resources with communities in need.

About The Role

We are seeking Senior Doctor Volunteers to support our remote clinics, mobile medical units, rescue operations and community outreach programmes.

Volunteers will work alongside experienced nurses, emergency responders and community health teams to provide healthcare services to communities that may have limited access to medical care.

Depending on the programme and operational needs, activities may include:

  • Remote medical clinics

  • Mobile healthcare services

  • Community outreach

  • Emergency medical response

  • Humanitarian relief

  • Preventative healthcare

  • Rural medicine

  • Disaster response

The programmes may support elderly patients, children, migrant and stateless communities, rural families, people living in poverty, and individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Conduct medical consultations and clinical assessments

  • Diagnose illnesses and injuries

  • Develop appropriate treatment plans

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with applicable Thai regulations

  • Provide follow-up care where appropriate

  • Maintain confidential patient records

  • Identify patients requiring urgent medical intervention

Remote Clinics & Community Outreach

  • Participate in remote clinic and mobile healthcare deployments

  • Provide primary healthcare services

  • Support chronic disease management

  • Conduct health screenings

  • Promote preventative healthcare

  • Provide health education to communities

  • Support vaccination programmes where applicable

  • Support healthcare delivery in isolated and underserved communities

Rescue & Humanitarian Operations

Depending on experience and programme requirements, doctors may support:

  • Emergency medical response

  • Rescue missions

  • Disaster relief

  • Humanitarian aid activities

  • Patient stabilisation

  • Medical triage

  • Field medicine

Medical Leadership

Senior Doctor Volunteers may also:

  • Mentor volunteer healthcare professionals

  • Support junior doctors and nurses

  • Contribute to clinical protocols and procedures

  • Assist with complex case management

  • Promote evidence-based medical practice

  • Represent the Foundation professionally in healthcare activities

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Medical Doctor (MD) degree or equivalent

  • Current or previous medical registration

  • A minimum of 30 years of clinical experience

  • Age 60 or above

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills

  • Experience in General Practice, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Rural Medicine

  • A strong commitment to humanitarian healthcare

  • The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Compassion, integrity and professional ethics

  • Adaptability and cultural awareness

  • A commitment to serving vulnerable communities

  • Travelling within Thailand for field activities

  • Working in remote environments

  • Participating in mobile medical clinics

  • Supporting field-based healthcare activities

  • Working in challenging or resource-limited conditions
