BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
The Treasury branch manages WFP's financial resources and ensure that cash flow is available to meet WFP’s operational requirements while maintaining the security of WFP’s cash resources, optimizing the returns on those resources, and minimizing exposure to risk. The Treasury branch operates at multiple levels and involve many different processes, such as managing corporate liquidity, a portion of WFP’s working capital, the management of bank accounts and overseeing external investment managers. Its processes have a direct impact in the field, mostly through cash replenishments, foreign exchange transactions, and counterparty risk management

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer, Treasury Branch, the candidate will perform the following duties:
Support Audit, Reconciliation, and Data Analysis Activities
· Extract, validate, consolidate, and review data from various sources to support audit and reconciliation processes.
· Assist in the analysis of information to identify discrepancies, support investigations, and facilitate the resolution of outstanding items.
· Maintain reconciliation trackers, status reports, and other monitoring tools as required.
· Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation related to treasury operations, audit activities, and ongoing projects.
Support Treasury Operations and Bank Account Management
· Support the administration of bank account signatory change processes and related treasury operational activities through the established service management platform (EasyVista).
· Assist in the preparation, circulation, tracking, and filing of documentation required for bank account maintenance and signatory updates.
· Monitor requests and follow up on outstanding actions to support the timely completion of treasury processes.
· Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation in line with internal controls and audit requirements.
Support Stakeholder Coordination and Service Delivery
· Liaise with field office finance personnel, and internal stakeholders to collect, verify, and share information related to treasury records.
· Prepare standard correspondence, reports, forms, and other documentation using established templates and procedures.
· Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation related to treasury operations, audit activities, and ongoing projects.
Support Process Documentation and Continuous Improvement
· Assist in maintaining accurate and updated information within treasury systems, databases, and repositories.
· Support initiatives aimed at improving process efficiency, data quality, and service delivery.
· Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders on treasury-related activities and projects.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university and have completed at least two years of the programme; OR
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master degree); OR
- Be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme);
- Classes attendance in the last 12 months of enrolment in a recognized university.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and data-handling skills.
- Ability to review and reconcile information with attention to detail and the ability to deliver quality results under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to respond professionally to enquiries.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting tools, or financial systems would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of treasury, banking, audit, or reconciliation processes would be desirable.
- Knowledge of WFP established service management platform (EasyVista) would be desirable.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
Established relationships within Treasury and other internal stakeholders.
Financial procedures and processes within WFP’s framework.
Familiarity with various technologies such as EasyVista, Docusign and Microsoft Office.
INTERNSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1,000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, VISA requests and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Sons, daughters, brothers, or sisters of current WFP employees are not eligible to apply.
