Role Purpose

 

ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic and motivated professionals for the position of Research Technician- Regenerative Agri-Technology. The Research Technician - Regenerative Agri-Technology will support field activities related to regenerative agriculture, crop and cropping system demonstrations, nursery establishment, soil and water conservation, household and baseline surveys, and collection of biophysical and socio-economic data. The incumbent will also support community mobilization, training and awareness programs, maintenance of field records, documentation of success stories, and routine monitoring of project activities under the guidance of scientific and project staff. There are 4 vacancies and all the positions are based at Odisha, India.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support implementation and monitoring of regenerative agriculture interventions, crop demonstrations, farming systems, nursery activities, soil and water conservation measures etc.
  • Assist in conducting household surveys, baseline assessments, farmer profiling and collection of biophysical, agronomic and socio-economic data using prescribed formats and digital tools, as applicable.
  • Support establishment, maintenance and monitoring of on-farm demonstrations and trials, including timely recording of crop growth, yield, input use and other field observations.
  • Mobilize farmers and community institutions for project activities and facilitate farmer meetings, field days, exposure visits, trainings and awareness programs.
  • Work closely with farmers, self-help groups, local institutions, line departments and project partners for smooth implementation of project interventions at assigned clusters.
  • Maintain accurate field registers, activity records, beneficiary databases, geo-referenced information, photographs and other project documentation.
  • Assist scientific and project staff in field sampling, data collection, monitoring, verification and periodic reporting of project progress and outcomes.
  • Document field observations, good practices, case studies and success stories and provide timely inputs for technical and progress reports.
  • Support logistics and day-to-day coordination of field activities, including distribution and tracking of project inputs and materials, wherever required.
  • Undertake extensive field travel within assigned project locations and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of project objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agroforestry, Environmental Science, Rural Development, Soil Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Fresh graduate with strong field orientation may also be considered,
  • Up to 5 years of hands-on experience in agricultural extension, field-based program implementation, community mobilization, watershed development, agroforestry, fodder and livestock systems, regenerative agriculture, or other closely related areas.
  • Experience in conducting field surveys, data collection, farmer training, demonstration management and community engagement will be desirable.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office, mobile-based data collection applications or digital reporting tools will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Odia language will be preferred.
  • Willingness to be stationed at or travel extensively to designated project locations.

 

Terms of Appointment


This is a contract role for 24 months (02 years). It may be renewed based on performance and the Institute’s continuing need for the position.
