Role Purpose
ICRISAT seeks applications from motivated and dynamic professionals for the position of Scientific Officer - Regenerative Agri-Technology. The Scientific Officer - Regenerative Agri-Technology will work closely with Project leaders, Scientists, Associate Managers, Research Technicians, government departments, farmer institutions and other partners. The position will support field experimentation and demonstrations, cropping systems diversification and intensification, soil and water conservation, horticulture, agroforestry, natural resource management (NRM) interventions, livelihood-oriented activities, capacity building, field data management, monitoring, reporting and scaling of proven regenerative agriculture technologies. This position is based at Odisha, India.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support field implementation and monitoring of regenerative agriculture technologies and agriculture-allied interventions across assigned project locations.
- Establish and monitor on-farm trials and demonstrations on cropping systems diversification and intensification, soil and water conservation, horticulture, agroforestry and NRM interventions.
- Collect, compile and maintain agronomic, biophysico-chemical and project monitoring data, including field observations, crop-cutting and other measurements.
- Support farmer engagement, training and capacity building with farmer institutions and local communities.
- Coordinate field activities with field teams, government departments and project partners for timely implementation.
- Contribute to monitoring, technical reporting, documentation of results and preparation of case studies/success stories.
- Support validation, dissemination and scaling of proven regenerative agriculture technologies, and undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Qualifications:
- M.Sc. Agriculture or postgraduate degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, NRM, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, or related agricultural/allied discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in agricultural research, field experimentation, regenerative agriculture, NRM, livelihoods, or related areas.
- Ability to analyses field data and prepare technical reports and project documentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work with farmers, institutions, and partner organizations.
- Experience in livelihoods, farmer institutions, community mobilization and convergence with government programs or development partners.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Odia language will be preferred.
- Willingness to be stationed at or travel extensively to designated project locations.
Terms of Appointment
This is a contractual role for 24 months (02 years). It may be renewed based on performance and the Institute’s continuing need for the position.
