Your team
You will be part of the Technology and Innovation Division in the Directorate General SSM Governance and Operations. Our Directorate General works with stakeholders across the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) to ensure that they receive the right support in their decision-making processes. We are responsible for assessing acquisition transactions in banks under European banking supervision and applications for new banking licences, ensuring the suitability of the senior management members of the institutions we supervise and independently investigating alleged breaches of prudential rules. We also deploy technological infrastructure, lead innovation and provide knowledge management and training activities.
You will join a team of supervisors working across the Technology and Innovation Division’s three sections. The Division comprises around 50 staff members and plays a central role in driving European banking supervision’s digital transformation agenda, including deploying frontier AI technologies across supervision, further digitalising supervisory processes, advancing the next-level supervision project and strengthening collaboration across the SSM.
A key focus of the role will be the SSM Information Management System (IMAS) for less significant institutions (LSIs) initiative, one of our most strategic digital transformation programmes. The initiative seeks to extend common supervisory platforms to national competent authorities (NCAs) for LSI supervision, promote supervisory convergence, supporting a more integrated and efficient approach to European banking supervision.
You will work closely with stakeholders in various banking supervision business areas, the Directorate General Information Systems and NCAs. We are currently seeking experts to join our team as of January 2027.
The SSM is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a Supervisor in the Technology and Innovation Division, you will:
- contribute to a strategic initiative focused on the future evolution of IMAS and the further digitalisation of supervisory processes across the SSM;
- engage with NCAs and ECB stakeholders to assess business needs, identify common priorities and support the development of a shared vision for supervisory technology;
- help define, analyse and prioritise business requirements, translating supervisory needs into clear and actionable technological specifications;
- assess options for harmonising supervisory processes and operating models while taking into account differing national practices and requirements;
- contribute to the planning, governance and coordination of a large-scale transformation initiative, including the preparation of analyses and recommendations for senior management and decision-making bodies;
- liaise with supervisors, managers, business experts and IT specialists to ensure effective collaboration and stakeholder alignment across the SSM;
- prepare presentations, briefing materials and other communication products for a wide range of experts and senior-level audiences.
The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of our largest digital transformation programmes. You will work at the intersection of banking supervision, technology and organisational change, interacting with stakeholders across the ECB and NCAs. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous inovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

- experience of IT systems used for banking supervision and a keen interest in new technologies;

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe.You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
