Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.

CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

At CHAI, our people are our greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication, and passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic individuals across 40 countries with a broad range of skill sets and life experiences. CHAI is deeply grounded in the countries we work in, with the majority of our staff based in program countries. Learn more about our exciting work: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org

Position Overview

CHAI's future talent pipeline depends on building strong, sustained relationships with the right universities globally, and this role is central to making that happen. Working closely with programme leads and staff across the organization, the Emerging Talent Senior Associate manages CHAI's university partnerships and intern programme, ensuring CHAI is known and well regarded at the institutions that matter most.

The role is hands-on and outward-facing, involving attendance at careers events, coordination with university careers services and student societies, and working with CHAI alumni from target institutions to bring them back as advocates and speakers. It also involves supporting the end-to-end management of CHAI's intern cohorts.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain active relationships with target universities globally, including their careers services, relevant faculty and student societies, ensuring CHAI has a consistent and visible presence at the institutions that matter most.
  • Coordinate CHAI's attendance at university careers events and fairs, organising logistics, preparing materials and representing CHAI directly to students in a way that is engaging and grounded in the CHAI mission.
  • Work with CHAI programme leads and staff who are alumni of target universities, activating them as advocates and speakers and coordinating their involvement in campus activities.
  • Support the end-to-end coordination of CHAI's intern programme, managing the application process, communications, and logistics for each cohort and ensuring every intern has a well-organised, well-supported experience.
  • Maintain a clear pipeline of emerging talent from target institutions, tracking engagement, applications, and outcomes in iCIMS (our ATS) with strong data integrity.
  • Work with the wider TA team to develop and refine CHAI's approach to university partnerships, including which institutions to prioritise and what engagement at each looks like in practice.
  • Liaise with the Brand & Attraction Specialist to ensure CHAI's presence at target universities is consistent with the broader employer brand and that materials are up-to-date and compelling.
  • Produce straightforward reporting on university engagement and intern programme activity for the TA team.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a campus recruiting, university partnerships or early careers role, or a role with significant involvement in events coordination and external relationship management.
  • Comfortable representing an organisation directly to student audiences, with the confidence and interpersonal skills to make CHAI's story land with people who are early in their careers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience coordinating programmes or events across multiple stakeholders and locations.
  • Comfortable working with data and tracking tools, able to maintain accurate records and produce clear reporting on engagement activity.
  • An understanding of what good early careers and intern programme management looks like, from application through to the end of a placement.
  • A working knowledge of global health or international development sufficient to speak credibly about CHAI's mission to students and university partners.
  • Fluency in both English and French. Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.
