Your team
You will be part of the Market Operations Solutions and Innovations (MSI) Division in the Directorate General Market Operations (DG/M). Our Division has approximately 40 staff. We are responsible for supporting, maintaining and developing applications for market operations and leading innovation and data analytics across DG/M.
In your role as Team Lead you will be part of the Market Operations Innovation Lab (MOSIL). This team of 12 staff members is responsible for data analytics and innovation, and works closely with colleagues in DG/M and the Directorate General Information Systems (DG/IS).
Your role
As Team Lead you will:
- lead MOSIL, delivering innovation, automation and data analytics solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of DG/M processes;
- coordinate a portfolio of initiatives using the tools, programming languages and data visualisation platforms available within the ECB to address DG/M business needs;
- engage and collaborate with stakeholders across DG/M, DG/IS, other ECB business areas and external partners to build synergies, share know-how and identify opportunities for reuse and innovation;
- drive the exploration of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, and assess their potential application in DG/M in a pragmatic and responsible manner;
- foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration and continuous learning within the team, supporting staff development and cross-team knowledge-sharing;
- contribute to robust data governance for DG/M’s portfolio of applications, including the Market Operations Database (MOPDB) containing Market Operations data and used for analytic purposes.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a master’s degree or equivalent in economics, finance, business administration or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of six years’ relevant professional experience (excluding internships and traineeships) in the field of market operations or closely related areas;
- a sound understanding of technology, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, data visualisation, distributed ledger technology and coding;
- a track record of implementing artificial intelligence solutions;
- professional experience in managing innovative activities/projects with a focus on results;
- strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate business needs into practical technology-enabled solutions and work effectively with IT, business and control functions.
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Working modalities
To enable the division to maintain its business continuity capability, you will occasionally be expected to perform work during non-standard working hours and work at the ECB’s standby sites.

Further information
The contract offered will be fixed-term, the appointment being for 18 months as of the exact starting date of the selected candidate.
Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.
