PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization that supports strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. Learn more on the About GGGI webpage.

GGGI supports the Government of Indonesia (GoI) through the joint GoI–GGGI Green Indonesia Future Initiative (GIFT) Program. GIFT seeks to transform Indonesia’s natural capital into green jobs and increased productivity, with a focus on green energy, sustainable landscapes, investment and financial markets, cities, and green industry.

Redirecting Investments for an Inclusive, Just Energy Transition (REDI4JET) is a five-year project (2026–2030) funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). GGGI leads the consortium, with Perspectives Climate Research (PCR) and Yayasan Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) as consortium members. REDI4JET aims to accelerate Indonesia’s just energy transition (JET) by strengthening policy frameworks, carbon markets, and climate finance; mobilizing climate-friendly and just energy investments; and supporting knowledge sharing on JET policy development and climate finance under Output V.

Output V focuses on knowledge sharing that strengthens understanding of—and capacity to implement—a just energy transition in Indonesia. It will disseminate Indonesian lessons learned, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote the use of evidence and practical experience in JET implementation.

The key indicators for Output V include:

  1. Indicator V.1: Attendees of knowledge-sharing events report using information on Indonesian lessons learned in their decision-making regarding JET by Q4 2030; and
  2. Indicator V.2: Successfully implemented knowledge-exchange events report on lessons learned in JET policy development and climate finance to inform JET implementation in Indonesia by Q3 2030.
