About us

The Directorate-General Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) strives for an inclusive society based on cross-border and inter-cultural cooperation in education, research, youth, culture and sport. We support young people, students, teachers, researchers and artists by creating opportunities to improve their skills, mobility and to take advantage of jobs and growth. Our flagship programmes are Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions and the Creative Europe programme.

The mission of the Directorate for Culture, Creativity and Sport is to promote cultural diversity and foster the development of the cultural and creative sectors, with the support of the Creative Europe programme. The Directorate also manages the sport chapter of the Erasmus+ programme.

Unit EAC.D2 “Creative Europe” is responsible for managing the Culture strand of the Creative Europe programme, the only EU programme exclusively dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative sectors. The Culture strand covers all cultural and creative sectors, with the exception of the audiovisual sector, which is managed by DG CNECT under the MEDIA strand. The unit is responsible in particular for:

  • designing actions and initiatives to support the cultural and creative sectors;
  • preparing the annual work programme and managing budget allocations;
  • maintaining relations with the European Parliament and other EU institutions on the implementation of Creative Europe;
  • managing the association process of non-EU countries to the programme;
  • monitoring and evaluating the programme’s results and achievements.

While most of the programme’s horizontal actions are implemented by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the unit is also responsible for several high-visibility special actions, including the flagship initiative European Capitals of Culture, the European Heritage Label, the European Heritage Days, the Day of European Authors, as well as the five EU prizes in the fields of architecture, literature, music and cultural heritage.

About the role

A position for a Programme officer, who, as part of a team, will contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of Creative Europe programme.

The job entails a varied mix of activities ranging from following up the actions funded by Creative Europe in cooperation with the Executive agency, supporting interactions with stakeholders and beneficiaries, preparing briefings, notes and terms of reference for calls for proposals, organising meetings and events and taking part in the preparation of the new programme (2028-2034).

This period is particularly interesting as it marks the transition to the new programme set to replace Creative Europe under the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034). It presents a unique opportunity to acquire first-hand insights from the outset of this transformative process.

Qualifications, experience and skills

We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, motivated, and pro-active person, with a well-structured approach to work.

The ideal profile for the job is a minimum of three years’ experience in managing culture projects as well as a good understanding of the EU action in this field.

A deep knowledge of one or several culture sectors would be an asset. However, if it is not the case, you need to have an interest and the willingness to become one.

Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills are required.

Excellent written and spoken English is essential; proficiency in French would be an asset.
