What we do
Since 1863, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has worked to preserve human dignity and relieve suffering caused by war and armed violence.
In collaboration with our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners around the world, we do everything we can to deliver life-saving aid, reconnect families and locate missing people – helping those who need it most, regardless of who they are and what side of the front line they are on.
We engage with authorities and armed forces on all sides, often confidentially, pressing for access to detainees to improve their living conditions and urging compliance with international humanitarian law to protect non-combatants, including from digital threats.
Purpose
The Donor Reporting Unit follows the work of the ICRC worldwide and turns that work into reports, appeals, funding proposals and other documents for our donors. Our audience includes governments, public and private donors, and international organizations.
Reporting officers under the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) Reporting Cell contribute to the Unit’s work by writing and preparing documents required for the negotiation and delivery of contracts between the ICRC and DG ECHO.
They use information from internal ICRC sources and work with other teams to ensure that these documents are delivered in a timely manner, and that they conform with the ICRC’s frameworks, policies and standards and DG ECHO’s specific requirements.
Accountabilities & functional responsibilities
- Studies donor/partner requirements and the feasibility of meeting those requirements and coordinates the relevant focal points and the wider ICRC to facilitate the delivery of such requirements throughout the life cycle of the donor contract, starting from negotiations.
- Produces any required iterations of the fundraising materials mentioned above, based on donor requests and operational updates, and to meet the final terms and conditions of donor contracts following negotiations.
- Builds narratives based on data from internal reporting tools and platforms – requesting additional information from the field or headquarters when needed – to develop high-quality one-off or periodic reports outlining the extent to which the ICRC has performed against targets and objectives set out in proposals and related documents.
- Ensures that documents submitted to donors comply with the donors’ reporting requirements.
- Consolidates data on programme implementation and indicators monitoring.
- Keeps available and up-to-date information on ICRC activities in relevant operational contexts, as well as humanitarian and political developments in these contexts, using internal reporting tools and other means.
Our values
