Join IFC's Manufacturing & Services (M&S) Africa team in Dakar and help bring private capital to  industrial and manufacturing businesses, including chemicals and fertilizers, building materials, packaging, consumer goods, textiles, and services across West, Central and North Africa. You will work on real transactions from the outset, from originating opportunities to closing and supervising loan, equity and mezzanine investments. You will work with experienced teams in the region and in Washington, DC, gain exposure to clients and industry leaders, and build a career within one of the largest development finance institutions in the world. Your work will be measured by both the quality of investments you execute and their development impact.

Duties and accountabilities:

The Associate Investment Officer will be based in Dakar and report to  the Manager of the Manufacturing unit within the  M&S Africa Department. Working with colleagues in the region and in Washington, DC, the incumbent will:

• Originate and develop the pipeline. Identify and screen potential clients and investment opportunities in the assigned sectors and countries, based on market potential, financial strength, sponsor quality and strategic fit, and build relationships with private sector clients, public sector counterparts and development partners.

• Appraise opportunities. Assess investment opportunities with a strong focus on credit quality and development impact, and prepare clear recommendations for IFC management.

• Execute transactions. Contribute to and, with increasing independence, lead the execution of loan, equity and mezzanine financings: processing mandates, carrying out due diligence, structuring, negotiating terms and documentation, arranging syndications, and obtaining internal approvals.

• Manage risk with specialists. Work with IFC's environmental, social, technical, legal, insurance and governance specialists to identify and mitigate project risks, and promote IFC's sustainability and advisory offerings to clients.

• Supervise the portfolio. Monitor client compliance with investment agreements, prepare timely supervision reports, flag early warning signs, and help formulate and implement work-out, restructuring or rescheduling strategies where needed.

• Contribute to strategy and client service. Support the development and implementation of sector and country strategies and deliver high-quality service to clients throughout the project cycle, from sourcing to supervision.

Selection Criteria

• Education: MBA, Master's degree in Business and/or Finance.
