Senior Youth and Gender Expert, Colombia

We are currently seeking a Senior Youth and Gender Expert for the anticipated USAID-funded Colombia Producers to Market Alliance program. This five-year activity will leverage public and private resources to increase inclusive, profitable, licit economic opportunities in targeted rural areas that are important to achieving sustainable peace in Colombia. By working along priority value chains, PMA should strengthen producer associations (PAs), cooperatives, and other small businesses in which rural farmers currently (or in the future could) participate. As primary objectives of the activity, PMA is expected to expand production in targeted value chains, increase producer associations (PAs) sales capacity, and expand rural productive infrastructure that supports key value chains.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all youth and gender activities under the project contract and will closely collaborate with all other partners involved.
  • Advise the program in developing strategies and plans to improve the economic participation rate of youth and women and systemic changes within the labor force.
  • Strengthen service data/monitoring to ensure that youth and gender inequities are tracked and appropriate response strategies are implemented; organize/support regular monitoring among local districts, NGO/CBO partners, and service providers; analyze and report on program and project progress.
  • Ensure that youth and gender program components are results-oriented.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings on youth and gender topics for staff and beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure gender and youth are integrated properly throughout the program areas and is in accordance with USAID’s youth and gender strategy.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in sociology, gender studies, economics, agriculture economics or a related field required
  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible work experience demonstrating experience conducting youth and gender analysis and gender integration programming, including with on-the-ground participatory approaches to research
  • Understanding of USAID’s youth, gender, and value chain techniques and approaches
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
