Purpose of the Talent Pool

As an organization NRC is committed to recruiting the right people at the right time and place. To help meet this goal, we are seeking experienced technical experts with a background in humanitarian aid to join us by becoming a part of our talent pool. The talent pools were created as a way to engage and maintain relationships with high-potential, qualified professionals who are motivated to be part of our team!

Position overview:

For a family forced to flee, having a safe roof overhead is an urgent need. In an emergency, NRC provides them with physical safety, protecting their belongings, their privacy and their dignity.

The primary objective of the Shelter professional would be to further develop and coordinate the NRC shelter program in Country Office in close collaboration with the other NRC Project and Programme Managers, and to ensure the establishment of effective coordination mechanisms for shelter for all humanitarian actors.

For this key role our ideal candidate is:

A university post-graduate (preferably Engineering) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant project management and/or technical advisory experience in a humanitarian/recovery context, and particularly in the construction field. A strategic thinker, who can identify, plan and oversee the implementation of key Shelter activities needed.

In these positions you can join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the region’s most vulnerable people. In addition to strong technical abilities, we are looking for a passionate, positive, individuals with strong communication skills, who can foster trust and collaboration within NRC and across our beneficiaries.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Shelter strategy, technical guidance and Macro LFA’s
  • Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reports
  • Identify trends, technical standards and donor priorities
  • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within Shelter, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
  • Provide technical direction and project implementation support
  • Ensure that key learnings are extracted from Shelter implementation, and incorporate them in Shelter programme and staff development processes
  • Provide systematic training and build capacity of technical staff
  • Represent NRC in relevant forums/Clusters/Sectors, including with national authorities and donors
  • Promote the rights of displaced persons in line with the advocacy strategy
