NRC in Jordan 

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

 

Role Specific Information

The overall objective of the NRC Jordan Youth Programme is to ensure that Youth become and remain active and engaged members of their communities, while employing a Do No Harm lens in terms of programme assessment and implementation.

NRC is developing a community based youth programme for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians.  The NRC host community youth programme is expected to launch in Mafraq Governorate during 2017.  NRC will provide access to structured learning and social engagement opportunities for Syrian and Jordanian youth.

The Database and Reporting Technical Assistant is responsible for managing data for implementation and M&E in the NRC Youth Programme in Host Community areas.  Responsibilities include: direct oversight of data entry, data collection and analysis, develop and implement M&E systems, and produce regular reports.

 

Generic responsibilities:

  • Provides direction, assigns tasks and gives instructions to data entry workers and evaluates individual performance.
  • Monitors the progress of activities of assigned daily data entry workers and ensures they are implemented conform planning and quality standards.
  • Develops own weekly activity planning.
  • Provides CC technical support to beneficiaries.
  • Adheres to NRC policies CC tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Identifies gaps, problems in the implementation area of own activities.
  • Prepares and files accurate records of project activities and ensures all information is accurate and available in time.

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Carry out data collection as required. Ensure that data is collected and recorded ethically and within the remits of NRC policy on confidentiality and consent.
  • Responsible for the allocation of tasks, supervision and support to data entry volunteers on a daily basis
  • Responsible for registration, student exam results and attendance for both students and teachers.
  • Create systems for producing regular reports/fact sheets reflecting the data entered in databases, and produce weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly management supporting reports and analysis as required.
  • Train other team members on project specific M&E tools and skills if necessary.
  • Ensure the centre and programme management are informed through proper data analysis to guide programme development.
  • Provide support and act as a focal point for different types of assessments in coordination with M&E department.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 1 year previous experience in/experience in M&E and conducted assessments in the humanitarian sector.  Has solid IT background and proficiency in Excel.   Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, in particular in the Middle East. Intermediate level of English both oral and written. 

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
