Who are we? 
DRC is a Danish international non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in some 40 conflict territories around the world assisting displaced people with shelter, food, income generating activities, legal aid and a wide range of other protection assistance 
 
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programmes through Country Offices (COs) in Algeria, Libya/Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey and a Regional Office (RO) in Amman. DRC has 17 offices and approximately one thousand staff members across the MENA region.  
 
About the job 
To support the senior management of DRC’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regional office with the documentation of decision-making and achievement of regional objectives. 
 
To coordinate and follow up on the strategic decision making process and strategic planning process in the Senior Management of the MENA Region. To be the focal point internally in the Regional Office regarding Senior Management Team’s priorities  and to improve communication between Regional Office and the country offices and HQ on strategic planning and regional initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities 
Coordination 
  • To organize meetings for the Regional Senior Management (bi-weekly RSMT meetings) and the Country Directors meeting (quarterly CD meetings), including logistics, agendas and minute taking 
  • To update the task list of the RSMT and CD meetings on a regular basis and coordinate a systematic follow up on the initiatives and tasks agreed with those assigned responsibility to ensure the tasks agreed are achieved according to the agreed deadlines  
  • To manage the process of developing strategic planning documents for the region, consolidating comments from Regional, Country and HQ level, and perform quality assurance and quality control of the documents. 
  • To support consultants and other experts at the regional level with documentation and research on specific issues. 
  • To conduct research, gather information and prepare summaries and analyses as required by the regional SMT 
 
Administration Support 
  • To assist with logistics arrangements and participate in meetings and workshops organized at the regional level, including agendas and minute taking (this may require to travel to the country offices around the region) 
 
Communication Support 
  • To be an informed key contact for the Regional Director and the rest of the Regional Office on RD and SMT’s priorities and whereabouts 
  • Ensuring lean communication between HQ level, RO level and Country offices about issues concerning the Regional Senior Management Team 
  • Updating and circulating regional office calendars and regional directories 
 
Information Management 
  • To systematically document the decision making processes in the different management fora and to ensure transparency of senior management structures and decision making processes in the RSMT and in the RSMT+CD 
  • To manage the regional electronic file sharing space 
 
Representation 
  • To participate in the Syria INGO Forum General Meeting, representing DRC when Regional Director cannot attend, taking minutes and action as  
 
Qualifications 
To be successful in this role you must have: 
  • Good command of IT, interpersonal- and intercultural communication skills, knowledge on the situation in the MENA region. 
  • Experience working for an international INGO, in coordination, administration and/or management; an academic background with analytical and research experience. 
  • A university degree in a relevant field, such as international development, international relations, political science, social science or business administration. 
  • Fluency in English 
  • Arabic preferred

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a one year contract, non-renewable. You must be available to start work from April 2017 and be willing and able to work in Amman. 
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates or Nationals; please refer to www.drc.org under Vacancies. This position will be placed at A20 for Expatriates or I for Nationals.
