  • Organization: DRC - Danish Refugee Council
  • Location: Amman
  • Grade: Mid/Senior level - Mid/Senior - Internationally recruited position
  • Occupational Groups:
    • Civil Society and Local governance
  • Closing Date: Closed

Do you feel that you can strengthen the relationships with key civil society stakeholders in the MENA region? If yes, then you might be the one we are looking for!

Who are we?

The search for durable solutions to the protracted displacement stemming from the Syrian crisis is a key humanitarian and development necessity for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This search for durable solutions is a regional, cross-border issue and demands a multi-sectorial response that goes beyond the existing humanitarian agenda. The discussion around the options and rights of the displaced are highly politicised.

Displacement organisations Danish Refugee Council (DRC), International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) have engaged in extensive consultations, identifying a wish and vision to establish a platform that can essentially assist key stakeholders in working more consistently with the issue of durable solutions.

Consequently, DRC, IRC, and NRC are establishing the Durable Solutions Platform. The objective of this platform is to generate knowledge and promote dialogue and strategic programme approaches to the long term future of Syrian refugees and internally displaced people based on international best practice and principles for preparing and supporting durable solutions for people in displacement.

The platform will act as a catalyst and agent provocateur to stimulate forward thinking and policy development on durable solutions. The platform’s research will assist NGOs in setting joint programmatic principles and strategies, continue advocacy work, develop guidance on mechanisms for cross border programming, and take this common approach for leverage with donors and stakeholders.

The work of the new platform will focus on improving information flow and coordination among the already existing forums in the region and avoid duplicating their efforts. The Secretariat is thus not an implementing agency, but rather a coordination and information hub. Own research will be undertaken when existing research data, findings, or results are insufficient for analysis.

The platform is hosted by the regional offices DRC, IRC, and NRC, in Amman, Jordan. The platform is managed by steering committee and an advisory board.
