Digital Marketing Officer (E-Commerce)

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
One of the core objectives of Digital Engagement team is to help the organisation to accelerate public engagement and audience growth from digital channels over the next five years. This includes working closely with internal and external partners and teams to increase supporter engagement and digital funds raised.
The Digital Marketing Officer (E-Commerce) will be responsible for cultivating methods that increase UNHCR¿s global digital income and engagement from countries where we do not have an on the ground fundraising presence. They will improve growth and development of new and existing donors. The role will work to ensure the effective delivery of digital hubs/pure digital markets strategy.

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
Accountability
- Digital strategy, capacity, skills and tools are developed to increase digital engagement globally.

Responsibility
- Be responsible for driving income from pure digital markets and language hubs specifically the English language.
- Take oversight of ecommerce payment gateway platforms and donation landing page CMS systems for use by the English hub and other markets as required.
- Provide expert advice to offices on ecommerce payment gateway best practice, optimisation of landing pages, multivariate testing strategies.
- Ensure optimisation of international payment processes including reducing decline rates in cross border transactions.
- Ensure implementation of existing and new payment mechanisms such as mobile payments, direct debit, proprietary systems on Apple and Android OS.
- Ensure offices rollout best practice in naming conventions, ecommerce including best practice guidelines and necessary training.
- Ensure paid media strategies are in place for hub to deliver increased income.
- Ensure engagement and retention plans are in place to drive loyalty and life time value.
- Continually identify and execute effective ways to improve acquisition and support from new and existing digital audiences.
- Oversee relationships with agencies and external suppliers for landing page CMS and ecommerce systems.
- Work with database team on the development and integration of the international donor database. 
- Work on remote market entry /pure digital engagement projects and the acquisition of supporters.
- Contribute to the development of strategies to improve UNHCR¿s long-term digital reach, supporter growth and engagement from all key channels including online advertising, social media, website, email and mobile technologies.
- Define and help implement strategies related to increasing audience and engagement with global digital properties including international websites and international social media properties.
- Ensure all donor enquiries are handled and responded to efficiently.
- Develop creative for landing pages and fundraising campaigns.

Authority
- Decide on day-to-day communication between DES, PSP (HQ and regional teams), and the network of Branch Offices and National Associations.

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- University degree in Communications, Digital Marketing /Advertising and/or Social Sciences.
- Minimum 8 years (6 years with advanced university degree) of experience in developing and executing digital engagement and acquisition strategies for non-profit and commercial clients on an International level.
- Strong experience with digital engagement, fundraising and supporter growth tactics including a firm grasp of all key digital channels.
- Expertise of managing the implementation of ecommerce and payment gateway platforms.
- Strong experience of optimising the conversion rate for donors on digital platforms.
- Proven experience with online audience and income generation & the development of digital campaigns and strategies.
- Experience working in a digital capacity within a large International organisation or UN agency.
- In-depth understanding of all key digital channels including social media, website, mobile, email and online advertising.
- Detailed knowledge of media buying techniques including real time bidding, social advertising and search.
- Detailed knowledge of digital analytics including third party tagging, Google analytics.
- Experience of using digital publishing and communication tools including email broadcast and web content management systems.
- Excellent project management skills and able to deliver complex projects within time and budget.
- Excellent English communication skills ¿ both written and oral.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Wide-ranging, in-depth knowledge of the profession of fundraising within more than one country, particularly within large scale public engagement or within a modern corporate context.
- Expertise with A/B testing methodology.
- Knowledge and understanding of technical integration of ecommerce/payment gateway to database/s.
- Knowledge and understanding of supporter database systems.
