Reporting Officer

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General guidance and support are received from the Head of Office.  Guidance may also be given by the various specialised units in the office.
The incumbent should be able to work under minimum supervision, be creative and innovative.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:
Within UNHCR: Close contacts with all sections to gather and analyse information.
With EXTERNAL Parties:  All implementing partners and UN agencies to gather, analyse and disseminate information about UNHCR activity information.

IMPACT OF WORK:  Accurate and well presented information will promote UNHCR action for refugees, contribute to good decision making, and help for fund raising.
Errors can lead to inappropriate action and impact negatively on UNHCR¿s image and affect funding raising efforts.

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT:
1. Keep abreast with all developments in the activity to prepare appropriate briefings and reports;
2. Consolidate and analyse data on programme implementation and indicators (nutrition, health, watsan) in order to facilitate the preparation of periodic reports, i.e. Sitreps, activity-specific reports as may be required;
3. Liaise closely with all Units of the programme in the country in order to gather and collate accurate data about refugees and assistance activities; 
4. Work closely with GIS to ensure accurate and attractive data presentation on the maps;
5. Prepare and distribute minutes of the co-ordination meetings that are held periodically in the country of assignment;
6. Meet and brief visitors on all UNHCR activities, where necessary together with appropriate specialist/ programme officers;
7. Draft donor reports;
8. Draft and/or check all reports from management;
9. Perform other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
University degree in Journalism or Law
Previous Job Experience: 8 years
Job Experience relevant to the function: 8 years
In an International capacity:  3 years
English is the essential working language together with another relevant UN language

Good knowledge of UNHCR policy and procedures
Demonstrated drafting skills
Experience in dealing with the public
