Under the direct supervision of the ICT Officer, this post will be the focal point in the ICT unit for the completion of the tasks mainly related to the following projects: Windows 2012 server project, consolidated network monitoring system, consolidated server monitoring system, BCP/emergency preparedness, information/data security, vulnerability assessment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Windows 2012 global roll-out project and tests of new servers which are planned for cluster and stand-alone configurations.
  • Assist in the optimization and management of data backup files in the BCP onsite (Rsync, VEEAM, NAS) and BCP offsite NAS.
  • Assist in the report generation and analysis of consolidated network monitoring system project including resolution of issues related to bandwidth utilization and downtimes of Internet links, firewalls/security gateways, and network traffic utilization attributed to wired/wireless Internet usage.
  • Assist in the report generation and analysis of consolidated server monitoring system project including resolution of issues related to the health and errors/alerts of physical and virtual server systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of data center facilities (UPS, air-conditioning, structured cabling system) including spare computer equipment and technical coordination with vendor or service provider.
  • Provide support on the installation and maintenance of new back-end server and network equipment.
  • Assist in the vulnerability assessment of ICT infrastructure, security protection of critical data, and remote access including protection against malware and virus.
  • As BCP/emergency personnel, perform regular functional tests of and actual deployment of ICT standby emergency equipment in BCP offsite and affected areas designated for UNICEF humanitarian responders.
  • Assist in the user account administration related to eSAF, Active Directory, Outlook, and Sharepoint.
  • To date, this involves maintenance and support for around 150 user accounts (staff, SSA/LOE).
  • Provide teleconference support (via Polycom/Skype) in office-wide meetings, workshops, and job interviews when required.
  • Provide backstopping on periods when ICT staff is on leave or on training.
  • Other related tasks which may be assigned by the ICT unit head or as required in specific projects.

Qualifications and Competencies of Successful Candidate

 

  • Education:
  • Completion of university degree in the field of electronics engineering, computer engineering, information technology, management information systems, mathematics, or computer science. Advanced skills required in system administration support, troubleshooting, network/telecommunications, data security, and software systems.
  • Work Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical and system administrative work related to computers, networks, remote access, or any data network systems. Experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance of servers, network routers/switches, wireless devices, firewall, data backup systems, data center facilities, and structured cabling system. Experience on server virtualization and scripting skills in Windows 2008/2012 and Cisco environment. Preferably from a multinational work set-up.
  • Technical experience on IT disaster recovery is a definite advantage.
  • Must be a team player with demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
