We are looking for a highly qualified Project Manager (GIZ). The position is based in Madaba with frequent travel to remote locations near Wadi Mujib. 
 
Who are we? 
 
DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
About the job 
 
The project Manager (GIZ) will be in charge of the successful setup and implementation of a complex multi-million GIZ funded cash for work project to be implemented around the Wadi Mujib damn. Working closely with the Head of Program. Livelihood Unit and DRC support services the Project Manager (GIZ) and his team will ensure that 1000+ cash for workers work towards the reforestation of a barren land around the Wadi Mujib dam in partnership with a Jordanian NGO and relevant technical and local authority stakeholders. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
Project Management 
 
• Ensure a timely and quality implementation of the project outputs as per agreement signed with the donor; 
• Manage all aspects of the project (human resources, finance, logistics, security, reporting etc) in the most efficient and effective manner; 
• Manage project budget through regular meetings with Finance Manager and provide financial risk analysis when required; 
• Provide requested monthly and quarterly reporting to the HOP and take lead in all donor reporting requirements; 
• Recruit, interview, and hire project staff (approx. 7 people) 
• Management and appraisal of the project team members; 
• Oversee performance evaluation and identify capacity building needs 
• Support the PQM to ensure regular monitoring of project activities and impact 
• Participate in country strategic reviews, linking with the project itself and any potential future program developments (including fundraising) of similar nature.  
 
Project Coordination 
 
• Monitor partner’s progress and take necessary actions to ensure project meets its goals 
• Supervise and mentor the Partner project staff; 
• Coordinate with the partner project team, ensuring that all partner’s staff receive adequate and timely support; 
• Support the partnership Senior Officer in identifying capacity building needs of the partner 
• Maintain a constructive and cordial relationship with the partner throughout the project implementation; 
• Coordinate with Field Coordinator to ensure adequate representation and strong relation with local authorities and other relevant local stakeholders 
• Manage regular donor field visits 
• Take active role in monthly coordination meetings with other GIZ partners 
• Take lead role with the livelihood department in relationship with technical consultant(s) 
 
Technical overview 
 
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance as needed on decisions pertaining to reforestation activities in coordination with technical experts and field staff; 
• Ensure recommendations made by technical experts are incorporated into field plans and are within program scope/ feasibility; 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
Qualifications/ experience:  
• Mater degree in social sciences, humanities, development studies, agriculture or water management. 
• At least 5 years professional experience in the humanitarian sector or environmental/ water management sector 
• Excellent knowledge of the project management cycle and experience managing multi-million projects with complex logistical elements  
• Previous experience working on the Middle East 
• Previous experience working in cash for work projects with livelihood component 
• Willingness to live and be based outside the capital Amman (Most probably Madaba) 
• Previous experience working with GIZ or similar donor 
• Relevant previous experience working in compliance, accountability, complaints management, etc. highly desirable. 
• Experience in developing and facilitating training 
• Ability to communicate technical information in an easy to understand, informative and collaborative manner 
• Good knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standards or other accountability measures/standards. 
• High integrity and willingness to conduct her/himself transparently and open to scrutiny 
• English (fluent) and Arabic would be a strong advantage/

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a Six months, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work on August 2017 and be willing and able to work in Madaba -Jordan.
