Experienced Spanish and/or Portuguese speaking experts for the Surge Capacity Roster - Field Operation

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with more than 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, camp management and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents.

NRC is looking for experienced Spanish and/or Portuguese speaking experts for its Surge Capacity Roster

In order to strengthen NRC’s ability to respond earlier and faster with prequalified specialists within NRC’s Core Competencies (Education, Food Security, Shelter, WASH, ICLA, Camp Management), the Emergency Response Section operates a Surge Capacity Roster. The Roster consists at present of some 80 stand-by members available from 72 hour notice to NRC in emergencies in new or existing NRC programme countries. In addition, personnel on this roster may be deployed when setting up a new country programme. It may also be used for increasing capacity in existing operations in times of emergencies, and gap filling. However, priority will be for emergencies.

NRC is therefore currently sourcing experts with Spanish or Portuguese language skills in the areas of Education, Food Security, Shelter, WASH, ICLA, Camp Management and Security

The following applies for all categories:

• Minimum 4 years experience from working in humanitarian emergency contexts.

• Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.

• Documented/proven results related to the position’s responsibilities.

• Good coordination skills.

• Candidates should be in full command of Spanish and English and/or Portuguese and English, additional languages an asset.

• NRC experience is valued.

  Personal qualities

•  Willingness and interest to work in emergency situations and insecure contexts.

• Need to be highly flexible.

• Health Certificate will be requested before signing of Employment Contract.
