Unit Division of Support Services -HR Closing date 26 July 2017 Reporting to Head of Human Resources Vacancy code GCF/Recruit/202 The Green Climate Fund (“the Fund”) is a new multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.

The Fund will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, considering the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. The Fund will pursue a country-driven approach in its operations.

The Fund is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries; the Board oversees the operation of all relevant components of the Fund. The Fund is serviced by an independent Secretariat, which is accountable to the Board and headed by an Executive Director. The Secretariat, which is accountable to the Board, is responsible for the day -to-day management of the Fund, and is located at the Fund’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon City, in the Republic of Korea.

The Fund is seeking an exceptional person who will take up the challenge of joining a high-performing organization at the leading edge of the financing of climate action in developing countries.

Position description

The HR Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Head HR and the team, and for supporting managers and staff during the complete cycle of HR management.

Duties and responsibilities

The HR Assistant will be providing support such as:

• Support the creation of job descriptions and vacancy notices, screening applications, organizing interviews, corresponding with candidates, carrying out the necessary administration processes to contract new staff; • As delegated, be responsible for welcoming new staff to the Secretariat, helping them to manage all related administrative tasks and settle into their new job; • Assist in day-to-day analytical and administrative support in the areas of compensation and benefits; • Administer and support the Secretariat’s performance management and development process as required;

• Administer and support learning and training activities as required;

• Assist in the development and implementation of new HR processes and systems; and

• Support the Head HR in any administrative matters.

Expected experience and qualifications*

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, or a related field;

• At least three (3) years of relevant experience for AS-B level or five (5) years for AS-C level, preferably

including at least one (1) year in an HR function, an equivalent combination of a Master’s degree and less

experience may also be considered;

• Understanding of the principles of HR management and the ability to apply them in daily work;

• Confidentiality and discretion are an absolute requirement in this role;

• Excellent knowledge of office technology such as MS Office, and experience in working with an HRIS or ERP

is highly desirable; and

• Fluency in English and Korean is essential; knowledg e of local language and/or another United Nations

language is an advantage. Willingness to cooperate with other staffs in a team and contribute to a

harmonious environment is essential; and

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of

another UN language an advantage.

*The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. The

above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for

consideration. Selection among short -listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview,

appropriate testing, and references.
