As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 134 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. Head of Strategy and Analysis (f/m)

 

Location: Vienna

 

Mission:

 

The Head of Strategy and Analysis ensures the management of the Strategy and Analysis Department which is focused on driving a global Fund Development strategy and annual planning; management of international fundraising investment and investment funds; analysis of fundraising trends and performance both internal and external; setting global fundraising information definitions, KPIs and reporting; promoting knowledge sharing and performing capacity building across the federation in these areas

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • STRATEGY

Drives the global fund development strategy and international annual planning with participation and presentation in key management and governance meetings;

Serves as the strategic advisor to the International Director and Department Heads

 

  • INVESTMENT

Drives the development and management of the Global Fundraising Investment Strategy including strategy maintenance; evaluation of global markets; and setting multiyear investment scenarios;

Manages the international investment funds investing in both developed and emerging markets;

 

  • ANALYSIS

Is responsible for a global and individual market analysis, provides insights and trends and shares such with relevant stakeholders including analysis of both internal and external fundraising trends and competition.

Coordinates, promotes and conducts external global fundraising performance analysis with Member Associations including iNGO fundraising initiatives (including SOS KPIs, iNGO benchmarking and peer review) of the International Fundraising Leadership Forum.

Responsible for developing and implementing common standards, definitions and tools for fundraising including fundraising KPIs across Member Associations.

  • KNOWLEDGE SHARING

Acts as a knowledge hub for fundraising strategy, analysis and best practice incorporating key information from other areas of FDC and GSC and ensures alignment.

Chairs and participates in various internal and external networks relating to fundraising strategy and analysis with iNGOs and consultants (including iNGO benchmarking steering team, SOS Directors of Fundraising and SOS Strategy & Analysis network) and drives capacity building and knowledge sharing in the area of fundraising strategy, investment and analysis across the Federation.

Drives strategic knowledge sharing activities and steers activities and interface with the communications and brand department.

 

  • GENERAL

Effectively manages the Strategy and Analysis Team and external consultants as required, and actively represent the subject area in the FDC Management Team, Function Network Team and other fora.

Coordinates audit of function work in regions according to defined quality standards

 

Requirements:

 

  • Master Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Economics or International Development (focus Marketing) or other relevant areas; or undergraduate degree with substantial comparable experience.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant national and international experience in the International Fundraising Market including some experience in a leading position;
  • Excellent understanding and experience of relevant state of the art fundraising mechanisms including benchmarking with an international scope;
  • Relevant experience in an International Non-Profit Organization
  • Experience in the evaluation of global markets and setting multiyear investment scenarios including the management of investment funds;
  • Experience in performing global and individual market analysis providing market insights and trends and a sound understanding and knowledge of the relevant context such as Major Donors, Grants, Mass Markets;
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams combined with the ability to manage people and projects in such setting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
