THE POSITION

The Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations Specialist is critical for organizing and maintaining key elements of donor meetings and streamlining our business processes vis-à-vis Resource Mobilization. The incumbent is responsible for researching new approaches to resource mobilization and proposal development, and identifying donor practices in order to align program development and partnership engagement initiatives to donor policies and priorities.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations Specialist will be responsible for providing high-level customer service and stewardship to the IDLO donors. The incumbent, in collaboration with the External Relations and Program Departments, shall ensure the timely preparation and dissemination of donor specific mandatory and special reports, briefing documents, corporate publications etc. and tracking of resource mobilization efforts based on information gathered from Program Dept.

Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not necessarily limited to the following duties: 

Resource Mobilization and Partnership activities:

  • Research for new opportunities for defined locations and/or segments of the donor community, aligned to IDLO’s overall resource mobilization strategy, in order to support further engagement;
  • Develop donor profiles that serve as references for establishing IDLO resource mobilization strategies and initiatives;
  • Develop proposals and donor reports, in collaboration with programme colleagues, that are aligned with donor requirements and policies, in order to maximize the potential for securing funding;
  • Coordinate with donors to determine their priorities and present IDLO as a viable partner in the work of international development and identify areas of mutual interest;
  • Review the performance of resource mobilization initiatives against established criteria in order to determine their effectiveness and identify areas of improvement and/or replication;
  • In close collaboration with DGO and External Relations Dept., identify key existing and potential donor focal points, with the view to use these as primary channel of communications for IDLO’s impact reporting.

    Donor Relations and reporting activities:

  • Enhance positive relationships with donor groups through timely and accurate reporting and monitoring of donor interests and information needs;
  • Collaborate with other department to compile, produce and disseminate mandatory IDLO reports; Set up data collection methodology and define the dissemination strategy;
  • Coordinate and actively assist in organizing donor/partner meetings and relevant donor/partner engagement programs;
  • Perform related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of post graduate degree in international relations, political science, development studies or another related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of significant relevant professional experience ideally within international organization. Experience working with institutional donors, foundations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and managing relations with major bilateral and multilateral donors.

Languages

  • Full professional competence of written and verbal communication skills in English is essential. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is highly desirable. Additionally, knowledge of Scandinavian languages (Danish, Norwegian and Swedish) will be desirable.

Specific knowledge, skills and competencies

  • Demonstrated understanding of the development aid trends (particularly in relation to rule of law), donor landscape and resource mobilization strategies and tools, including results based donor reporting;
  • Good network with major bilateral/multilateral donors and/or foundations;
  • Solid interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude in building partnerships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and driving results, including at the senior level;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to respond timely to queries and provide feedback;Self-motivated and dynamic with a willingness and ability to use initiative to assist the Organization to achieve its objectives;

TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

The annual salary level for this fixed-term professional staff, internationally recruited, position is in the range of € 51,400 to a level commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus additional admissible benefits. 

The compensation is net of tax for non-Italian /non-permanent Italian resident. IDLO offers subsidized health insurance coverage including life insurance, medical and dental through Cigna International to the staff member and eligible dependents. Eligible staff member is also entitled to IDLO Provident Fund where IDLO contributes 14% of the staff member’s base salary.
