The purpose of this process to recruit a Legacy Fundraising Specialist Consultant for a regional roster – which can then be used by Country Offices in the region. The incumbent will develop UNICEF's Legacy donor programs in specific CO’s in the LAC region, and thereby provide expertise in this new emerging channel and drive the growth of Legacy income. The incumbent is to provide, technical fundraising expertise, guidance on acquiring and stewarding Legacy recruited donors and techniques to maximize their income. The incumbent will operate under the direction of the UNICEF global legacy strategy. The Legacy Fundraising Specialist will work closely with the fundraising teams in the relevant PFP offices in the LAC region to develop their fundraising activity in this area. There are 9 PFP country offices in the LAC region in total. The role of the incumbent will be twofold 1) to fill resource gaps where necessary in Country Offices 2) to impart best in class learnings in relation to the digital, Telemarketing and other offline channels and multichannel.

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFACTION

The income from Private Sector Fundraising in LAC is growing fast. In addition to this, Country Offices in the region have identified significant potential for growth up to 2021. Unlocking the potential of the Legacy channel is key to realizing growth of Individuals fundraising.

Legacy fundraising is one of the five priority income streams in the Private Fundraising and Partnership division and generates tens of millions of dollars for UNICEF every year. The recommendations that this person makes to Country Offices will determine how effective UNICEF is in raising income in legacies.

 MAIN TASKS RELATED TO THE JOB

Under the guidance of the relevant CO Fundraising Manager, the consultant will perform the following duties:

  • Working within different country office teams across the region - the Legacy Specialist will spend time in office, working closely with the CO fundraising teams to develop, support and advise on their Legacy programmes and ensure the realization of results.
  • The Legacy Specialist will work to fill resource gaps in the relevant CO’s countries while also providing Legacy training to both fundraising agencies and fundraising teams on best in class implementation strategies.
  • Provide remote Legacy support to other CO’s in the region – providing support calls on Legacy activities, answering ad-hoc queries, sharing best in class examples of Legacy implementation.
  • Organize and coordinate Legacy webinars with key speakers from across the organization.

    DELIVERABLES 

  • Required time spent in relevant PFP Country Offices in the region.
  • Carry out Digital, Telemarketing, offline and integrated plans per the relevant Country Office Workplan.
  • Train and upskill the relevant country office team members.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • At least 5 years’ hands-on experience of Legacy fundraising, including: planning, managing and implementing Legacy campaigns and Legacy stewardship programmes from channel initiation.
  • Experience of negotiating contracts and enforcing contractual terms with legal agencies, preferably across diverse markets.
  • Experience in Telemarketing agency management.
  • Must speak Spanish and English. Portuguese a bonus.
  • Proven ability to deliver to targets and demonstrated experience of results-based management.
  • Strong analytical, negotiating and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.

TBC – with Country offices.

 Reporting Responsibilities/supervision

The Incumbent is expected to work under the supervision of the relevant CO Fundraising Manager and meet regularly with Geneva Individual Giving Specialist/s. 

CONSULTANTS WORK PLACE

The hired consultant will work between CO’s, home, remotely and potentially also at the Panama RSC.
