Organizational Setting


The Department of Management (MT) provides a 'platform of services' that serves as a foundation for the successful delivery of the IAEA's scientific and technical programmes. Its mission statement is as follows\: "MT is a partner and a business enabler that champions change and efficiency, leveraging a common purpose". Thus, among other support activities, it assists a scientific manager in recruiting the right expert, helps a technical officer coordinate the purchase of radiation equipment, and ensures that all Board documents are translated and distributed on a timely basis to Member States.


The Division of Human Resources plans, acquires and manages human resources to help implement IAEA programmes. The Division delivers the full spectrum of HR services, including organizational development and planning, talent acquisition and development, performance management, and administration of compensation and benefits. The Division serves a multicultural workforce of approximately 2300 people from diverse scientific, technical, managerial and professional disciplines.


The VIC (Vienna International Centre) Medical Service serves the staff of all VIC Based Organizations (i.e. the IAEA, the United Nations Office of Vienna, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization), promotes the health of the staff of these organizations, provides for an occupationally safe and healthy work environment, and ensures that the UN Common System medical standards are maintained at the VIC. It renders services to approximately 4500 staff and dependants.


Main Purpose


Under the day-to-day supervision of the Head Nurse the Medical Service Aid performs all maintenance duties according to Standard Hygiene Measures within the Medical Setting to enable efficient day-to-day operation.


Functions / Key Results Expected


The Consultant shall perform the following tasks\:

-  Wash, clean, disinfect all instruments, equipment and fitting-out of all Medical Service rooms, as required up to several times per day. Collect and be responsible for disposal of non-infectious and infectious waste.
-  Check and report on expired medicines and other lacking, outdated or broken equipment and instruments. Replenish first aid boxes and assist with stock keeping and shelving. Pack travel kits for staff going on duty travel.
-  Deliver materials for health campaigns and their set up. Assist in installation of stands and preparation of medical equipment and materials.
-  In case of emergency/sickness of a staff member or visitor assist in transportation of patients and provision of food and drinks.


 

Qualifications and Experience


  • High School Diploma - Completed secondary education

  • Minimum of one year working experience, preferably in a medical setting.

  • Focus on quality and accuracy\: Persistent medical standard has to be maintained to minimize risk of cross infections and disease transmission.

  • Good health, physical fitness, strength and ability to handle chemical substances like disinfectants to carry out strenuous work.

  • Good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of another official IAEA language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) including German, an advantage.


Remuneration

 

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 80, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
