Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Researcher for development of the business and housing loan products. 
 
ABOUT CONSULTANCY
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. In Ukraine DRC operates since 2007. From 2015 on, DRC successfully implements livelihoods programmes aimed to provide IDPs and conflict-affected population with income-earning opportunities thus strengthening their resilience. From July 2017 DRC has started implementation of the “Livelihoods Assistance Programme in Eastern Ukraine” (LAP), part of which is devoted to development of affordable loan solutions for IDPs and conflict affected people in Eastern Ukraine. 
 
The overall objective of the consultancy is to research possibilities of improving access to affordable loans for IDPs and conflict affected people in Eastern Ukraine, specifically in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The researcher will be responsible for the following tasks: 
  • Under supervision of the expatriate Livelihoods Programme Manager and the LAP Manager, elaborate the pattern and modality of the research; 
  • Collect the baseline data on the overall situation with the loans in Ukraine, including desk research and site data collection; 
  • Make the primary and the secondary analysis of the situation related with business and housing loans available in Ukraine; 
  • Identify the problems the banking sector faces in terms of affordable loans; 
  • Develop possible solutions for the problems identified; 
  • Upon completion of the research, write a comprehensive report that will clearly and thoroughly describe the situation, the problems identified and the solutions offered.

You have extensive knowledge of the banking sector in Ukraine and proven experience in micro-finance and loans, as well as professional research capability, analytical and writing skills.  
 
Required:
  • University degree in economics, business administration, banking or law; 
  • At least 10 years of overall working experience, with at least 5 years working in micro-finance/banking sector and dealing with loan products; 
  • Proven working experience and capacity of making researches and writing recommendations; 
  • Excellent analytical skills; 
  • Full working proficiency in both oral and written Ukrainian and Russian (equally important); 
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Contract length: 2.5-3 months
