Organizational Setting
 
In order to identify qualified candidates to IAEA Departments for General Service positions, the Division of Human Resources maintains a pipeline of interested applicants. Qualified candidates who are available for short term administrative temporary assignments are encouraged to register and create personal profiles. Registration within the Pipeline does not constitute any formal commitment on the part of the IAEA for taking a particular application into consideration. Pipeline registration is only valid for two years. Candidates need to re-register again two years after the initial date of registration to be considered an active pipeline applicant. Updates can only be provided to candidates who are being considered for opportunities.
 
 
Types of engagements
 
Typical jobs may include 'Handyman', 'Plumber', 'Salesroom Worker', 'Foreman', 'Cook' and similar. 
 
But given the diversity handled by General Service staff, job roles cannot be easily specified. For the pipeline ‘Warehouse, Maintenance and General Services’ the IAEA engages with candidates who possess expertise at various levels within one or more of the following disciplines\:
  • Food Services
  • Messenger Service, Mailing
  • Transportation (Light
  • Auto and Light Vehicle Driving
  • Building Maintenance, Operation, Repair and Services
  • Civil and Electrical Engineering
  • Equipment Operation and Repair
  • Plumbing
  • Store keeping, Cash Transactions and Warehousing
  • Filing and Archiving (also Digital Long Term Preservation)
  • Document, Correspondence and Report management
 
Education, Experience and Language Skills
 
For the areas mentioned above, general requirements and assets are as follows\:
  • Completed secondary education.
  • Between zero and four years of relevant working experience depending on position.
  • Knowledge of procedures and administrative guidelines in an international organization.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, organize own schedule, perform routine work independently, meet deadlines, adapt to constantly changing demands and multitask.
  • Ability to manage the workload under time pressure.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a busy office environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work effectively among people of different national and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) an asset.
 
Remuneration
 
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free net base salary. Remuneration level will be determined by the grade of the short-term assignment.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. Recruitment will be on a LOCAL BASIS only. Outside applicants are required to supply to the IAEA or to authorize it to seek all information relevant to their suitability for employment by the IAEA. Testing may be part of the recruitment process.
