As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

Tasks and responsibilities

Finance & Controlling Services for the Federation

  • Give strategic planning support to International Director and the Children’s Villages International (CVI) representative
  • Participate in the development and update of financial policies and quality standards and implement these policies
  • Support maintenance of master data in finance systems

Finance & Controlling Services for Member Associations

  • Support the linking of needs and funds by providing the necessary financial information and coordinating the allocation of funds
  • Support the management of Promoting and Supporting Associations (PSA) portfolios by providing the necessary financial information to the International Office (IO)
  • Support National Associations (NA) budgeting process, check quality of NA budgets and monitor budget execution within the given financial frames
  • Support all NAs to conduct their accounting, check data quality and import accounting data
  • Support all NAs to manage their local and their PSA funds
  • Support all NAs in their internal control system and participate in internal audits in NAs
  • Support all NAs in their external financial audit process and quality check the NA audits
  • Support all NAs in their statistics data collection
  • Support NAs and CVI representative in the financial aspects of programme plans and proposals
  • Monitor NA financial data and financial KPIs
  • Build up finance capacity in NAs
  • Support NAs and CVI representatives in crisis cases

Finance Services for General Secretariat

  • Support Member Support Advisor in replying and coordinating finance-related information requests from PSAs and the General Secretariat (GSC)
  • Support NAs in the accounting of membership fees
  • Support the preparation of the budgets of the regional / branch office (if applicable)
  • Do the accounting for the regional / branch office (if applicable)
  • Do liquidity planning and manage GSC funds on regional level
  • Run external financial audit process for the regional / branch office (if applicable)

Treasury & Risk Management

  • Support NAs in their liquidity planning and quality check NA liquidity plans
  • Prepare regional risk assessments and coordinate and monitor mitigation measures
  • Execute currency transactions for the regional office
  • Support NAs in their bank relations

Finance Systems Support

  • Implement and give first-level user support for NAs for the SOS controlling system LUCY (finance modules), the accounting and HR software Dynamics NAV and the Budget Entry Tool

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • University degree in finance / business administration or similar qualification in general management, and at least 5 years of experience in a senior finance position

Skills & Competences

  • In-depth understanding of financial management including budgeting, accounting, auditing, financial controlling, financial reporting and financial analysis
  • Development of policies and processes as well as tools in the area of finance and general information/reporting
  • Interest in and affinity to technical systems/software
  • Good analytical and organisational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel as well as good knowledge of Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge and experience in project and process management is an asset
  • Ability to work flexibly in virtual settings
  • Ability to work in a cross cultural environment
  • Fluent English and French (spoken and written) is a must. Knowledge of further language spoken in the region is appreciated.
