The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. The mandate of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition.

The Department of Human Resources Management (HRM) is responsible for a broad range of services covering UNIDO’s human capital. The services of the Department include the development of policies, systems and tools that facilitate the management of its human capital development, thus enabling the Organization to achieve its mandate, business and strategic goals, while upholding the impartiality and fairness embodied in the regulations, rules and policy directives.

PROJECT CONTEXT

Buildings Management Services Division (PPS/OSS/BMS) - As part of the common services, on behalf of and financed by the VBOs (Vienna Based Organizations), UNIDO is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation, maintenance and repair of the Vienna International Centre (VIC) buildings and associated installations according to the local building codes and standards, and according to the VIC operating license conditions.

Duty Station: UNIDO Headquarters, Vienna Approximate duration: 6 months

Main Functions

Under the overall supervision of the Director ad-interim of the Department of Human Resources Management, and in cooperation with the Unit Chief of Building Management Services (BMS), the consultant will initiate and coordinate the necessary action for efficient and effective identification, assessment and selection of the best candidate for vacant positions in BMS. Specifically, the consultant will do the following:

- Initiate and coordinate the necessary action for the timely revision, evaluation, and classification of the job descriptions;

- Initiate and coordinate the necessary action for the timely preparation and issuance of the required external and/or internal vacancy announcements;

- Initiate and coordinate the necessary action for the expeditious technical evaluation of the released candidates and approval of the short lists and interview panels;

- Initiate and coordinate the necessary action for personal assessments and panel interviews of the short listed candidates, preparation and submission to HRM and/or to the UNIDO Selection Panels of the assessment reports and the BMS recommendations;

- Follow up with the HRM, Selection Panels and senior management on the progress in the review of the submitted cases and

their approval;

- Initiate and coordinate the necessary action to inform all relevant parties about the selection decisions approved by senior management;

Follow up with HRM and the selected candidate on the progress in the pre-appointment formalities and the estimated reporting time;

Initiate and coordinate the necessary action on the timely and smooth on-boarding of the selected candidate.

Minimum Requirements Education:

Advanced university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or

related field.

UNIDO Languages:

English (Fluent), knowledge of German would be desirable for this assignment.

Field of Expertise:

A minimum of 5 years practical experience in the field of Human Resources, including experience in recruitment at the international level: experience in HR Planning and Classification desirable.

This appointment is limited to the specified project(s) only and does not carry any expectation of renewal.
