The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Job description
- Support in standardizing M&E across projects
- Support in developing data collection methodology and tools, and in actual data collection, as needed
- Support in data management and development of clear information flow between program and M&E staff, as needed
- Ensure that monitoring data are reported in a timely manner to relevant program and managerial staff
- Prepare PDM reports in a timely manners and disseminate to the relative stakeholders.
- Capacity building and training of program staff on M&E technical and conceptual areas, as needed
- Support the Programme Department in new initiatives, should these arise during the employment period
- Other activities agreed and discussed with the Emergency Manager/ Coordinator and SO M&E Department.
- Liaise with peer organizations and M&E staff in partner agencies to facilitate lessons learned and coordination.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a university degree in social science, economics, rural development or in other related fields. Prior experience with monitoring and evaluation required
- At least 2 years’ experience in an international NGO preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting, including M&E capacity and systems development
- Experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods
- Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods
- English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
- Fluency in Dari, Pashtu
- Computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Desired Skills
- Post-graduate certificate in M&E related field such as surveys, sampling, data analysis
- Experience with field level coordination with UN organisations, INGOs, Donors and authorities
