The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization experienced in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. In the light of the high influx of migrants to the Greek islands, NRC has started an emergency response programme on the island of Chios in mid-October 2015. NRC directly assisted over 70,000 refugees and migrants, working together with the Greek authorities, humanitarian actors and volunteers to set up and maintain a dignified and efficient flow of refugees from arrival at the beach, via registration and reception facilities, to departure by boat or plane to mainland Greece. The purpose of the Electronic Archive Assistant position is to support all departments with scanning and filing of documentation.

Job description

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
  • Ensure that records are properly stored, safe-guarded and available for reference by authorized staff members
  • Ensure registries for electronic archives are updated and that all documents are referenced according to existing system (financial, logistics, etc.)
  • Actively promote compliance and coherence in the archiving of electronic documentation

Qualifications

  • Experience from working as a secretary or in archiving
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Greek and/or English
  • Excellent command of Office package
  • Basic knowledge of scanning parameters
