Position Summary:

The UNFPA Liaison Officer plays a leading role in strengthening the Country’s capacity to implement the ICPD Program of Action within the context of its national development efforts for the achievement of the SDGs, thus ensuring national ownership. The Liaison Officer substantively contributes on advancing a policy-oriented agenda, leveraging the resources of national governments, building strategic alliances and partnerships and developing internal and external communication.

The Liaison Officer proactively supports the resource mobilization strategies at country level and provides the SRO Director/Representative with information and guidance on population dynamics and its linkages with women and youth sexual and reproductive health, youth empowerment and gender equality.

The Liaison Officer will engage with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to advance collaboration with UNFPA on issues of common interest, including but not limited to the population dynamics, youth and gender agenda and sexual and reproductive health. 

Requirements: 

Advanced degree in population and development, demography, International Relations, or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience:

5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of development and population activities, preferably policy development, advocacy, resources mobilization, and strong results-based management experience with particular focus on strategic planning and public policy dialogue.

Proven ability to manage teams to achieve demonstrable results. Excellent written and oral communication skills to foster engaged partnerships at a high level of representation and to maintain political partnerships.

Prior experience managing surveys would be an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required.
